I GREW UP IN THE 60's AND NO BETTER LIVE ROCK CONCERTS COULD BE DONE BETTER THAN BY THE WHO! THIS IS THE CD TO GET, BUT BE WARNED IT'S THE MUSIC SOUND THAT ALL THE GROUPS THAT FOLLOWED WERE WENED ON! NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!

The best rock n' roll show. Ever!

If you are a WHO fan and know your WHO then you'll have to agree that the Live at Leed's show is the very best that the WHO has to offer in live shows. I remember when the LP came out and we were short changed. We didn't get the whole show. The deluxe edition is the whole show and it just jams. Pete playing his SG with the P90 pick ups is just amazing. The whole band was on that night. Get this and crank it way up!

  Brilliant- best live album ever!
Review created: 03/28/08(updated 03/28/08)

I am not normally a fan of live albums, but LIVE AT LEEDS is an exception. It is a must-have for any fan of The Who. Released in 1970 when the group were at their best, the album is exhilirating from start to finish.

The original LP only contained 6 tracks. This is also one of the few albums in which the CD version is superior to the LP equivalent, because of the addition of extra tracks when it was released and remastered in 1995 (along with the rest of The Who's albums). However, this third reissue from 2001 is even better still: disc 2 comprises Tommy, previously unreleased at this concert, and the performances are brilliant.

In the original concert, all the songs on the first disc up to 'A Quick One' start the set, then the group rip into Tommy. After that 'Summertime Blues' and the next few songs wrap up the concert.

Whether you are a fan of the Who or enjoy a good rock concert, Live At Leeds deserves to be a part of any serious music collection, and whether you have owned this before on CD or LP, this deluxe edition is a great purchase.
(And worth every penny to boot!).

My only criticism of the deluxe edition is that it has not been made available on vinyl, well not yet! Whereas the concerts The Who played at the Isle of Wight in 1970 are available on vinyl (3 LP). Although in my humble opinion that concert, although still good, doesn't come anywhere near Live At Leeds.

You won't be disappointed. As I said, I prefer studio albums over live albums in the main, but this is the best live album of all time.
