REO Speedwagon-Live You Get What You play For
Review created: 12/13/09

This has always been a favorite album of mine, but the decision to edit Gary's Guitar Solo from the track listing is a move that I don't understand.

Recorded in the seventies vintage rock n roll. classic.
Review created: 04/10/08

I have been trying to replace my vinyl from years ago. It has several songs that bring back some vivid memories. I am particularly fond of "Like you do" and "157 riverside avenue" in addition to the more mainstream "riding the storm out" It was recorded shortly after the re entry of Kevin Cronin to the group after leaving for a while. It exudes the energy of REO's live performance. a very enjoyable recording.

  awesome cd
Review created: 04/02/08

haven't heard this cd since I was a teenager... one of my all time favorites... awesome cd just like when I was a teenager and in mint condition. I highly recommend this cd to all you reo speedwagon fans old and young it's great listening and it will take you back. Easy listening not too harsh or rockey and not too whimpy either. Good ole easy rock the old time way. A true masterpiece and workmanship from Reo Speedwagon.

Original REO Live. Best version of 157 Riverside Ave
Review created: 12/08/07

Not easily acquired on CD, but worth it to have in the collection. Back when tney were all young and Gary Richrath was one of the few guitar Gods out there.

REO has an energy live that many bands cannot compare to. One of those recordings that will continue to stand the test of time. If you are an REO fan and you do not have this recording...you are missing out.

Hi,

I thought you'd never ask!!!!!!

This is possibly the best " live " CD i ever bought.

Its got good quality sound , singing is clear and they just sound great.

It has some songs on it that they perfected years later such as "like you do,being kind can hurt sometimes, and son of a poor man."

I just can't ask for a better CD , its just awesome.

I wanted to get some REO tunes for my iPod so I bought the "Essential REO Speedwagon" cd. I realized I made a mistake because I remembered how great songs like "Golden Country" and other sounded live on this album. I knew I had to get You Get What You Play For on cd. You Get What You Play For is the ESSENTIAL REO SPEEDWAGON.

I Listened to alubm when it frist came out around 76`. I had 8-track; alubm;
and cassette.I've replaced them as I wore them out.The mid 80`I couldno longer find it,when I started looking in CD's I could find newer stuff but not "LIVE:
YOU GET WHAT YOU PLAY FOR" . E-BAY made it so easy to find ,I typed the group's name and all their CD's came up for me to look though.I thought my heart would stop when I saw "you get what you play for". THANK YOU! I never thought I would ever hear them again

ROCK n ROLL WILL NEVER DIE
Review created: 02/08/07

REO SPEEDWAGON WAS A BAND THAT I USE TO LISTEN TO BACK IN THE 70'S & 80'S. I WAS LISTENING TO 104.3 JACK FM ,HERE IN CHICAGO WHEN I HEARD AN OLD LIVE REO SONG, WHICH BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES OF MY DAYS AT NMU IN MARQUETTE MICHIGAN. I REMEMBERED THE LP TITLE; WENT ON LINE; FOUND IT AND BOUGHT IT FROM THIS GREAT SELLER. MY CD WAS AT MY DOOR STEP IN RECORD TIME. THIS IS AN AWESOME CD IF YOU LIKE KICK BUTT LIVE ROCK n ROLL FROM THE 70'S AND 80'S. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, THIS IS THE BEST REO LP EVER PRODUCED. BUY IT! YOU LOVE IT!

You should have heard them then !!

How many of you knew that REO Speedwagon was one of America's great rock and roll bands before they switched to Top 40 ballads ? Their first 4 or 5 albums were simply smokin' !! This double-live set is an excellent sample of their abilities to kick your ass with tight harmonies and fiery guitar. Kevin Cronin's voice soars and Gary Richrath's guitar just screams !! The album starts with a bang with "Like You Do" , picks up steam with "Keep Pushin'" , and roars through "157 Riverside Avenue", "Ridin' the Storm Out", and "Music Man", then the fantastic climax with "Golden Country"! There's not a bad cut to be found !! Do yourself a favor and don't pass this one up !!

  the real REO
Review created: 08/10/06

in the late 70's,the rock sound was about guitars riffs, a very clear example is this CD.before the torn down sound of Reo to the HI -ifidelty era, this was a real simple rock and roll band with lots of taste.Nevertheless it was a movement any band would do to keep in the market the same thing happened to Journey. Here is Reo in his best shape enjoy and live the memories
