Album Notes Decades after his heyday, Buddy Rich is still considered one of the best jazz drummers to ever grace a set, and this live outing, recorded in 1958, shows why. Tenor saxophonist Flip Phillips, who was no slouch either, joins Rich in a small group setting for an evening of all-out jazz conquest. The program includes "Lover Come Back to Me," "Jumpin' at the Woodhouse," "All of Me," and "I'll Never Be the Same," with Rich and Phillips pulling out the stops in terms of swing, group interplay, and sheer technical derring-do.
