To say this is timeless is an understatement-and we have waited patiently! . This is an excellent collection of songs done on a special night when Frank was in amazingly good voice and apparently mood as well, Period. All the songs are recognized as standards now, but as to be expected, Frank Sinatra sort of rediscoverd many of them, and re-did them first and best. Here live there is a new energy and as many of us hoped for, a revisiting of earlier arrangements that are truly timeless. Throughout his career he'd pick the pearls from a failed theatre production, or hear a song and know how it should be done, and then do it. Nelson Riddle's arrangements are beautiful and somewhat understated-the perfect backdrop Frank, as are the great tines penned by Billy May, Stordahl and later Costa. Sinatra's near perfect vocals even at this age make this a must have. The sound is clearly way better than average! The performances are recognized as among the best of the genre. Just sit back, light up or have a scotch or 3, and let Frank take you to a place you know you'd like to be at. Because after all, that's what you're looking for!
