Album Notes Recorded live in Japan in 1997. Includes previously unreleased bonus tracks. Hot Tuna: Jorma Kaukonen, Michael Falzarano (guitar); Pete Sears (keyboards); Jack Casady (bass guitar); Harvey Sorgen (drums). Liner Note Authors: Jorma Kaukonen; Jack Casady. Recording information: Stove's, Yokohama, Japan (1997). Although they've touched upon several different styles during their long and winding career (blues, extended jams, hard rock, etc.), Hot Tuna began life as an acoustic band, and the style remained the band's musical core throughout the years. During a tour of Japan in 1997, the band booked a surprise gig at a miniscule club named Stove's (maximum capacity 50), and when it became apparent that overcrowding and a tiny stage wouldn't allow the group to plug in and do a full-on electric set, Jorma Kaukonen and company picked up their acoustic instruments and did an impromptu "unplugged" set. 1998's 14-track long LIVE IN JAPAN included many highlights from this special night, including surprisingly uptempo versions of "Hesitation Blues," "Let Us Get Together," and "Keep on Truckin'."
Editorial Reviews The energy of the room is palpable in the recordings, and it results in an unusually uptempo, energized set. Dirty Linen
