Live at the Fillmore * by Derek & The Dominos (CD, Feb-1994, 2 Discs, Polydor USA)

well, this is a nice release over the previous release of the standard LP version that came out on CD. That version was from production reels and of course the sound quality was lame. This is expanded that features all the cuts of the orignal release of "D&D In concert" and some that appeared on crossroads release box set. However, this is a total remaster job...this is a best of the 2 night run of which the first night circulates amoung tape traders and collectors...those recordings are raw transfers of the master reels so you can the difference in the reamster mix job...this is a great period of EC live ...really is nice playing and letting the band jam for a long time on the groove...one thing that alot of folks don't know about fillmore east recordings in general is , the fillmore east had custom mixing board and very high quality recording equipment by order of bill graham owner, it shows on various bands releases...nice warm analog sound on those recordings...derek and the dominoes was a great live band as well as in the studio...if you're a EC fan of the early stuff , you'll love this ...I think it's one of the best EC live recordings of all time, if not the best

Of all the incarnations of Eric Clapton: Bluesbreaker, Rock God, Pop hero; Derek and the Dominos sets the standard for classic Blues Rock. Layla gets all the glory from this Clapton era. This live album shows that Derek and the Dominos should be heard LIVE! And played LOUD!
