Album Notes
Recorded live in Barcelona, Spain in 1987.
One of the many Flamin' Groovies live albums released during the '80s and '90s, LIVE AT THE FESTIVAL OF THE SUN is poorly annotated and doesn't have the best possible sound (though it isn't bad). But it's an interesting example of the Flamin' Groovies at their live best in their somewhat hit-or-miss late period, about equally divided between Cyril Jordan originals like the classics "Teenage Head" and "Slow Death" and covers of rock & roll classics like "Feel a Whole Lot Better," "Slow Down" and "Almost Grown."
Interestingly, Jordan and company also throw in tracks by some bands who had been influenced by the Groovies, including the Hoodoo Gurus' "Bittersweet" and the Plimsouls' "A Million Miles Away." The performances are rock & roll sloppy, and enjoyably loose.
