This installment of New West Records' excellent concert series presents the robed indie-pop ensemble the Polyphonic Spree performing for the venerable AUSTIN CITY LIMITS TV program. Drawing largely from its 2004 album, TOGETHER WE'RE HEAVY, the Dallas-based collective, led by former Tripping Daisy frontman Tim DeLaughter, runs through enthusiastic renditions of the bright, showtune-like "Section 12: Hold Me Now" and the bouncy "Section 18: Everything Starts at the Sea." Not a group to completely neglect its early material, the Spree also revisits the spacey "Section 2: It's the Sun," rounding out a thoroughly uplifting show that stands in stark contrast to LIVE FROM AUSTIN's mostly alt-country releases.
