Album Notes The bonus disc of the LITTLE VOICE deluxe edition presents Sara Bareilles performing acoustic versions of some of the album's tracks, including the chiming "Bottle It Up" and the bouncy hit single "Love Song." This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel: Sara Bareilles (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, background vocals); Joel Shearer, Lyle Workman, Stuart Mathis (guitar); Bruce Watson (acoustic guitar); Jamie Muhoberac (piano); Eric Ivan Rosse (electric piano); Chris Chaney (bass guitar); Matt Chamberlain, Brian MacLeod (drums); Rafael Padilla (percussion); Jake Davis (programming); Josh Day, Javier Dunn (background vocals); Jake Davies. Programmer: Jake Davies. Buoyed by the springy, Motown-ish single "Love Song," Sara Bareilles's major-label debut (and second full-length album) has brought the songwriter/pianist some well-deserved attention and a place on the Billboard charts. With a clear, expressive (and hardly little) voice that glides effortlessly from alto to soprano, Bareilles conveys vulnerability and wisdom in lyrics that speak honestly about relationships from a woman's point of view. Her piano-playing and songwriting veer from Billy Joel bounce to Fiona Apple angst, but it's all held together by a commanding sense of melody, and a lovely, pristine production.
Editorial Reviews 3.5 stars out of 5 -- [S]lightly edgy, stompy piano-based pop rock....Bareilles' writing voice is uniquely her own. Rolling Stone
