A classic in my eyes, what acting for a 12 year old!!!

Jodi Foster is absolutely brilliant in this psychological thriller as a 12 year old actress. She is a natural and was born to act. I don't want to reveal the movie, other than it's not for children under 17.
I purchased one in 2007 and paid top dollar; however, I've been selling it starting at .99. A must see.

I remembered some of the movie from when I was young. I wanted to view it again but it was not available at the blockbuster. I'm glad I bought it from ebay. The movie was excellent. Talk about old school suspense. I have watched it twice and it was better the second time. There is nudity so age appropriateness is required.

This movie originally aired on television quite some time ago. A mystery that makes you think of the possibility that a little girl could live on her own in a big house, in a small town. There is only one problem, a bothersome landlord and her perverted son. It's fascinating in the instance that living alone as a child for many years provided there was access to money, which she had, and others wouldn't interfere, especially trying to investigate why a young girl is not in school. The movie captured your attention, explained much, and offered many surprises. I didn't like the love affair the young children had. It's inappropriate, but the movie is what the movie is.

  Jodie Foster Thriller
Review created: 09/04/06

Good movie with a great script and great performances by Jodie Foster and Martin Sheen. A little slow moving but the performance are great - Martin Sheen is especially creepy.

Jodie Foster plays a girl who lives alone in a house she rented with her father, a writer. As far as everyone in town knows the girls' father is just a busy man with no time for visitors. But her landlady is dying to meet her father and the woman's son (Martin Sheen) is dying to get into Jodie's pants. Dad is just plain dead and the girl will do anything to protect her way of life.

There is one nude shot - it was not Jodie who at the time was a minor, the girl is actually her 18 year old sister -, murder and a psycho pervert so the movie is not for kids.

I wanted to purchase this DVD because I had seen it on television a long time ago and really enjoyed it. I am an Foster acting admirer and would like to own all of her movies new and old and this was one that I had been missing from my collection. I thought the acting was great and liked the story as well. If you are a Foster fan you won't be dissapointed.

I bought this movie based on reviews I read which stated that this was a bomb movie. It was! Like that of a a firecracker you throw on the ground. You know, the safety ones that are white and implode/explode on impact when hitting concrete. Certainly not like one with all the pizazz of a real firecracker of a movie. It so did fizzle out for me. The acting was mediocre at best for all the actors in it. I guess they were young and still developing. I still like Jodie Foster though. She did not deliver as did not her co-actors. It was a grown up part for what was supposed to be a little girl down the lane. So, I don't know. If you are just a die hard fan of hers and Martin Sheen, then buy it. If not, wait until you can tivo or vhs or dvd it when it comes on regular tv. It should be given away. Thankfully, the price wasn't bad. With all that said, it was not the absolute worst movie I've ever seen. Maybe that's serves a consolation to you guys in case you still may want it. It's watchable if you have nothing else to watch or you are just a classics buff. I hope this helps.

Jodie Foster - The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
Review created: 09/09/08

I loved receiving this film 'cause it was one I had first seen in the 70s, when I was quite young . . . It 'struck a chord' with me then, and even though it seems just a little bit cheesier now than it did 'way back when,' it's still a total classic - one of the great b-movies. Jodie Foster has always a wonderful actor, then and now. I would definitely recommend it - if you are a Jodie Foster fan, open minded and a classic b-movie lover! Cheers, and happy viewing!

I had not seen the movie since I was a child. That was so long ago I couln't undertand it and was very terrified of it. I had been looking to review the movie for years now. If nothing else to at least take away the fear of misundertanding the movie. I am glad that I bought this movie, and I am glad to have it in my collection. It is timeless.

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
Review created: 08/23/08

One of my favorite movies. One of my favorite Jodie Foster movies. This movie is like reading a good mystery novel, you must pay attention, but watching Jodie Foster's acting ability take charge (at 13!!!)makes paying attention an easy thing. Alexis Smith (as the nosey landlady) is also as watchable. Everyone in this film is an asset.

I have always thought Jodi Foster was a good actress anyways, but I really liked this thriller she starred in. Jodi was very convincing in this movie. If you like older thriller movies this is one to see.

I had seen this film years ago and always remembered it. So happy to spot it on Amazon. I have always admired Jody Foster's work, even as a young girl. The plot is 'something different'. The characters brought to life by well cast, excellent, actors. The plot and dialog are compelling. I would reccommend this film to anyone who wants to see a movie that is well made, well written, and intelligent. Not your run-of-the-mill flick.

  Offbeat Psychological Thriller
Review created: 11/13/07(updated 11/14/07)

Engrossing offbeat thriller about a highly intelligent, perceptive and responsible 13 year old named Rynn Jacobs, played by Jodie Foster, who lives all alone in a big house in the U.S. that she and her dad leased for 3 years after moving from England, rent all paid in advance. Her dad is never home, and her mom died a few years earlier. She has a totally cool boyfriend named Mario played by Scott Jacoby, and then there is the totally revolting pedophile Frank Hallet played convincingly by Martin Sheen. The pedophile has the hots for 13 year old Rynn, and she absolutely cant stand him. There is something hidden in the basement, I wont say what, but the mother of the pedophile is Cora Hallet, played by Alexis Smith, who owns the lease to the house where Rynn is living, and Mrs. Hallet like her son, is a total jerk, only not a sexual pervert. Anyway, some people begin to dissappear, and things really get interesting. Jodie Fosters charm and charisma are at maximum level in this engrossing psychological thriller. Based on a novel by Laird Koenig, who also wrote the script. Will keep you on the edge of your seat.

One of the first Jodie Foster´s roll on the screen. It´s also a teen classic. She is very confident in front of the camara indicating the great actress she would turn. There is a bit of mistery, a little of romance, a bad gye. A great formula to please all audience.
