Offbeat Psychological Thriller
Review created: 11/13/07(updated 11/14/07)

Engrossing offbeat thriller about a highly intelligent, perceptive and responsible 13 year old named Rynn Jacobs, played by Jodie Foster, who lives all alone in a big house in the U.S. that she and her dad leased for 3 years after moving from England, rent all paid in advance. Her dad is never home, and her mom died a few years earlier. She has a totally cool boyfriend named Mario played by Scott Jacoby, and then there is the totally revolting pedophile Frank Hallet played convincingly by Martin Sheen. The pedophile has the hots for 13 year old Rynn, and she absolutely cant stand him. There is something hidden in the basement, I wont say what, but the mother of the pedophile is Cora Hallet, played by Alexis Smith, who owns the lease to the house where Rynn is living, and Mrs. Hallet like her son, is a total jerk, only not a sexual pervert. Anyway, some people begin to dissappear, and things really get interesting. Jodie Fosters charm and charisma are at maximum level in this engrossing psychological thriller. Based on a novel by Laird Koenig, who also wrote the script. Will keep you on the edge of your seat.
