Little Britches Makes You Want To Move Right In

Are you looking for wonderful family oriented books to read aloud with your children? The whole series by Ralph Moody, starting with Little Britches and culminating with Horse Of A Different Color, is as good as it gets.
This book, Little Britches, centers on the time period when Ralph Moody and his family lived on a small sharecropping farm just outside Denver Colorado in the early 1900's. Ralph makes friends with the sheriff, breaks nine toes, learns to be a trick rider at the county fair along with his cowboy friend Hi, experiences the pain of losing someone most dear to him, and is taught life lessons by his father and mother that stick with him (and us) from then on.
The characters are among the best defined in modern literature, there is oodles of wisdom and wit, wonderful dialogue, and most especially a portrayal of the value of family relationships that is more than just heartwarming... it makes you want to move right in!
If you buy just one book to read to your kids, make it this one.
