Synopsis A wondrous, serendipitous tale that tracks Christian's migration from London streets to Kenyan wilderness and the new friends, both lion and human (notably lion expert George Adamson of Born Free fame) that he finds there. Most astonishing, however, is that in 1971, after a year's absence, his old friends Bourke and Rendall returned to Africa and successfully reunited with Christian.
The recent blockbuster popularity of animal memoirs, such as DEWEY and MARLEY & ME, has inspired the re-issue of this 1971 release, which details the remarkable story of two British swingers and their pet lion. For two years, John Rendall and Anthony Bourke raised a lion cub named Christian in their London flat, watching in wonder as the domesticated cat became a local celebrity. As the feline began to outgrow the apartment, the men made a deal with George Adamson, the lion guru made famous by the hit movie BORN FREE, to introduce Christian into his proper home on the plains of Africa. On a trip to Kenya a year later, the Londoners were surprised and delighted when Christian, who was now integrated back into the wild, remembered and embraced them.
