I purchased this book because, like millions around the world, I was greatly touched by the YouTube video that depicted the reunion of Christian with the men who raised Christian when he was a cub, Anthony (Ace) Bourke and John Rendall.
This book was beautifully written and illustrated. By reading the book, I felt as if I was transported back in time; I felt as if I was there sharing the experiences with Christian, Ace, John, and the amazing George Adamson (of Born Free fame). This is a touching and profoundly moving story that both inspires and educates. If you are an animal lover, I think you will be delighted with this book. If you are not yet an animal lover, I think you will become one after reading this book.
As I recently said in a letter that I wrote to one of the authors, “All of you have touched my heart in a way that words cannot express or describe.” Beyond that, I believe people who know what it means to love an animal and to share part of one’s life with an animal will be reminded, after learning about Christian’s story, of just how precious a gift animals are to people. Further, I believe Christian’s story will enable some people to have, for the first time in their lives, an epiphany, whereby they will come to appreciate how special any animal can be. I believe only good can come from this. Further, I was left feeling that there was an ambiance of “destiny” or “karma” surrounding the events depicted in this book. It seems like it was all just meant to be.
In my entire life, I never paid so much money for a book. After reading this book, I feel it was worth every penny! I am proud and honored to own my copy of this book.
