Description: Think of the Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router as a kind of "splitter" for your Internet connection. Just connect your DSL Modem to the Router, and all the computers in your household can share the Internet -- all at the same time. You...
Can plug in up to 4 computers on this unit and each computer works like it has a direct connection with no problems. I highly recommend it AND the customer service is fantastic. Even at 3:00 in the morning, although the call is to INDIA they still are very understanding and helpful!
The router is very temperamental. Most of the time it does not connect through the modem and the server can not be found. It requires that you reset it and do the "Easy_Connect Link" almost every time you use it for it to feed two cable lines or even give you an internet connection. Quite a P.I.T.A.!! (Pain in the A#*). Invest in the upgraded unit. I wish I did!!
I purchased my router about 2 years ago, really breaking it in now though. Ive found that it has a very easy and basic interface with advanced options for those who know more about networks, I myself dont however.
Security in a Apartment complex such as I am in with many wireless networks showing up when you plug in a wireless card told me that theres alot of possible ways to have people sneek onto your connection if they wanted and so the MAC Access filter this router has was a must and again, very easy to set-up!
Since getting it, Ive purchased the Cable Modem by LinkSys and suggest it to people I know who might be needing a router without needing a Bachelors Degree to install it. Deffinently a good buy if you need a router and works with seemingly ANY operating system that is mainstream. Ive had it connected to Windows 98 up to Windows XP Pro! All with great results.
I highly recommend LinkSys if you plan to network a small buisness, office, or home.
