Linksys WRT54GP2 Wireless Router with 2 Phone Ports

I purchased this router and immediately updated to the latest firmware.
Installation and Setup:
1. Installation is fast and easy. Simply connect the WRT54GP2 to your Cable / ADSL modem with the supplied CAT5 cable and connect your PC to one of the three WAN ports on the back of this router.
2. Once connected to your computer, open your web browser and enter the routers configuration page at: http://192.168.15.1/ By default the user name to access the device is left blank and the password is either "admin" or "1234" without the quotes.
Everything is pretty much straight forward from here. From this page you can configure your connection type, set up DDNS, lock down your wireless, set static IP addresses if desired etc.
If you don't know what any of this stuff is, don't worry about it. But if you are using ADSL / DSL for your internet service and they charge you for bandwidth used I strongly suggest locking down your wireless access so that your neighbor doesn't use your internet at your expense.
3. After configuring the router you may want to configure it for a VoIP service to take advantage of low cost calling.
To configure the telephone ports on the unit open your browser and go to: http://192.168.15.1/Voice_adminPage.htm NOTE that you will only be able to access this part of the router if it is UNLOCKED and not associated with a provider. Devices that are sold for use with Vonage or a similar service are locked to that provider only.
From the Voice configuration pages you can configure the device for two separate telephone lines. There is also a QOS setting that ensures your VoIP service gets priority over other service to ensure clear calls.
PROS:
All in one device with three port router with 802.11b and 802.11g wireless.
Supports Static IP, PPoE, Dynamic, RAS, PPTP and Heart Beat connections which allows you to use this router anywhere.
Supports DDNS for those hosting web servers at home.
SPI firewall,
MAC address filtering for wireless.
QOS settings for VoIP service.
Ability to prioritize ports,
Supports two independent phone lines for VoIP service,
Supports complex dial plans similar to the Linksys PAP2, SPA-1001/2002/2102
Supports direct IP dialing (via user speed dial settings).
Supports ENUM dial plans.
NAT support
EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE!!
CONS:
1. Configuring the Voice ports requires 'Saving' each page before moving on to the next. On Linksys VoIP devices this isn't required. This only applies to the VoIP configuration pages only.
2. Device only has 3 WAN ports.
This is no big deal and will suffice for most people.
Having built in wireless and two phone lines more than makes up for this though.
I rate this item as excellent for it's rock solid performance, features and value.
