Li'l Abner (DVD, 2005)

The picture was absolutely crystal clear and the colors were vivid and the sound perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better picture and I consider it money well spent.

I saw this movie quite a few years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although initially the fact that it was clearly a sound stage the fact that it was based on the cartoon strip I got pulled into the idea that Dogpatch was an imaginary place. What's interesting about it, is that it is still very relevant. The idea of what is good or bad about our government sticks out like a sore thumb in this picture and the ending with Jubilation T Cornpone really saving the day is a hoot!

i remember watching this when i was little...i somehow found a copy years ago and my daughters started watching it..than my copy disappeared...well..my 16 yr old has been looking for a copy so i bought her this copy...i cannot believe a 16 yr old would enjoy a musical like this...but she has been watching it since she was little...i am just glad it was on here...

it basically is just a clean wholesome comedy that is not found much these days..L.H.

Good value, good quality. Purchased for residents at the nursing home to watch for leap year. They got a kick out of it.

Just as I remembered it from my childhood a great movie. The DVD was very good quality. If you like comedy and good music you'll love Li'l Abner.

The quaint cover art that you get on the old vinyl is worth the investment alone! I am a teen of the 70's and I direct theatre and this show is of interest to me for the upcoming season, so while getting the TRUE old sound of the songs, I also get to immerse myself in the cover art and picture the show on stage. A joy!

We bought this product because we remembered seeing it years ago and wanted a copy for our use. The disk was sent in a very timely manner and arrived in under the time stated. The disk is in excellent condition and plays great. We are very happy that a site contains items like this one and in such good condition.
We are very pleased with this whole purchase experience.

Lil Abner is a movie from my childhood and being a West Virginia hillbilly with a wide musical back ground, I couldn't pass up the chance to really enjoy this movie again as an adult. I was very pleased with the video and sound quality and vivid color of this product. The DVD you would think was made from a recent movie. The only thing that I really didn't like about it was the fact that it had no inserted literature or info pamphlets with it. The only thing that could have made this DVD better was if there had been special features, bloopers, out takes, interviews, etc. included. If you like musicals, catchy tunes, and country humor, I highly recommend this movie.

We saw the broadway show and the movie and enjoyed both very much. We wanted our grandchildren to see good musicals instead of the trash of today

I purchased Lil Abner because my off spring doesn't know about Abner or Daisey Mae, or even Stupifying Jones. It helps to preserve some good memories.

we have as yet to watch this but i have seen it in the past....the main purpose i got it is it will make a great production for our dance competitors or possibly the theme for one of our upcoming dance performances....it is a fun and upbeat story and gives people a happy feeling

This is a movie that I grew up watching. I have been looking for this movie for so long. It did not matter whether it was VHS or DVD, but as soon as I saw the DVD I had to have it. I love this movie!!!!

I think this is cute and funny and really is what a great musical should be.
It's in a time where everything was simple.
Li'l Abner and Daisey May are the cutest while pussy-footing around their relationship.
Mammy Yokum is hysterical and you have to love her pint size.
I highly recommend this film. Its a movie that my mother brought me up on and I will introduce this film to my children one day.

This is a movie version of a 1956 Broadway musical ,Li'l Abner, which I saw when I was a teenager. What I like most about it is the re-creation of the dances that on Broadway were choreographed by the famous Michael Kidd. I also like the fact that most of the songs from Broadway are included in the movie and the two leading parts of Li'l Abner and Marryin'Sam are played by the same actors as on Broadway.These facts make for an enjoyable "Broadway Show".

It's a very funny movie with great singing and dancing along with some of the most beautiful women on earth. Doesn't come on TV often enough so I decided to purchase the DVD.

I used to enjoy watching this movie on TV. It seems like it used to be shown once a year. When I found out that my husband had never seen it, I just had to find a copy.

By today's standards this movie is very sexist toward women and not at all flattering the "hill folk". Still it's very entertaining. I did not like the fact that it's formatted for wide screen tv, however, since I don't have a wide screen tv and it made everyone appear very tall and long-legged.

Li'l Abner is the second movie made that brings to life Al Capp's brilliant comic strip. The characters are unforgettable in this movie. It's well acted and the dance routines are fun to watch. The satire sometimes revolves aroud the cold war, but most of the satire is very relevent to todays issues. The musical score is great and the Nelson Riddle orchestra is perfect. I recommend this movie as good family entertainment.
