Breezy, easy read

If you're looking for depth, dirt or philosophical insights this isn't the book for you. If you want a surface bio of an interesting woman who made her mark in a man's world and lead the way for all the brilliant women comics to follow this is it. Frankly written, this books skims the topics of a mentally ill daughter, poverty level living, an infuriatingly ineffectual first husband, a gay second husband and a fabulously rich third companion. One wishes there was more depth to many of the topics, particularly the machinations of early show biz along with the well known personalities of that era. The book was enjoyable and if you're looking for an easy to read, overall view of Phyllis Diller's life, this book will fit the bill.
