The lighthouse Stevensons
I had no idea that the building of a lighthouse was so extremely difficult until I read this book. Multiply that by the fact that this was all done in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The Stevenson family were a remarkable group of people who took the challenge of creating a safer passage for ships in the northern seas. The detail of their construction and adventures is outlined very well in this book. I am not an engineer, but I was intrigued by how this all took place. After reading this book, I feel compelled to visit the remaining lighthouses that were built by this amazing family of engineers. Excellent read.
