  Great Gift! Excellent Read! Inspiring!
Review created: 11/05/09

This is an excellent read for adults and older children. You'll want a marker handy to highlight this man's wisdom. You will want to read his words of wisdom over and over. I have also given this book as a gift several times and each person gave excellent reviews. Most went on to give the book as a gift to others. I am buying 2 more copies for stocking stuffers.

Great book....especially to pass to younger generation!
Review created: 01/14/09

I read this book on vacation from the library and just had to purchase it to have on my bookshelf for my kids to read when they are older. Whatever this man was delt and the hardships he faced, he still had a great outlook on life and how important education is ....at any age. I would have loved to meet this man.

Life Is So Good - And so is this book!
Review created: 07/24/08

What a wonderful told story! This fine book is on my sons' high school summer reading lists. I thought I'd read it first so I could talk to them about it.

Oh my gosh! I thought I was doing a parent obligation thing and it turned out that I enjoyed the reading of this human adventure tremendously!

It just goes to show that anyone can live an exceptional life...if you set your mind to living it.

George Dawson lived with grace through over a century of America's dark history of racial segregation in the South.

A universal story of living with dignity.

Whoa! What a man...what a story! His wisdom, dignity, kindness, insight, intelligence, simplicity...and more...are so very impressive. I am sharing my extra copies with everyone from a 16-yr-old to a 90-yr-old. There is much (in this story) to be gained by people of all ages and circumstances. Need I say that I am grateful for having read this....

A good book about an amazing man.
Review created: 05/07/07

If you want a kick in the butt for not being all you could be, George Dawson will do it. He was an amazing man, and I wish I could be more like him. A man who live quite a life stating with very little, But a positive attitude and the love of a good family. He had a good work ethic, dignity, and a good heart. If only more of america was like him, I would be proud of my county again.

  Couldn't Put it Down
Review created: 03/08/07

This is a really great book that makes you feel hopeful about getting older. He
went through so many things that a person should not have to put up with but he
has a positive attitude and just kept going. This book will warm your heart and
probably bring some tears to your eyes. My sister-in-law, my mother, and I all
read it and really thought it was wonderful. I recommend this book to anybody.
It is inspirational and since he was over 100 yrs old it is historical as well.
It makes you feel grateful and as if all the complaining we do on a daily basis
is just plain unfounded. Again--great book. Everyone should read it.
