It doesn't get any rawer than this: every jam is an expletive-filled assault, and virtually every track is about the trials and travails of a life spent on the wrong side of the law. Stylisticaly, this is mostly West Coast smooth, with a good dose of down-south drum machine beats. A few tracks stand out. "My Best Friend" is an honest admission from a guy who knows his girlfriend is the only person he can trust in a dangerous world; "My best friend be my lady/You my only homey/'Cause niggas get shady." "Baby It's Real" takes a sample from the great Al Green, and uses it as the sonic foundation for a dark tale of betrayal, graphic violence, and drug dealing. As usual with this genre, parents, beware: Mr. Serv-on is not recommended for the kids.
