Princess Meredith NicEssus aka Merry Gentry is still trying to produce an heir to the faerie throne. If she fails, her aunt,Queen Andais will place her son as monarch and kill Merry. Despite trysts with her loyal guards, she remains childless. She and her guards, including Darkness and Frost are in L.A. King Taranis,has accused her guards of a shocking crime and now wants them all to die. King Taranis has tried to kill her before, when she was a child, but now he is eliminating her source of protection so he can try again.
This is a fascinating fantasy story, but you do need to read these books from the beginning to understand all that is happening. All very well done.

I Loved this book and every other book in this series!The Merry Gentry Series is a mix of mystery, fantasy, magic, horror and romance. I will save them all to read again! A Lick of Frost is a Wonderful Book.I enjoy this far out world that Laurell Hamilton has Created! She is one of the most original writers! This is a must read book!I do recommend you read this Series in order!

Good read...
) This book in the series was a little more involved in character mind and was well done. The interplay and themes are more engaging than some in the series and as other worldly as ever. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this because every once in awhile she puts out a book as good as she used to. This one is just more of the same pandering to the lowest common denominator. If you like the other books like this then you will love this one too.
