An excellent George Harrison CD release!

Without a doubt, George Harrison was one of the finest musicians to ever grace the world of popular music. Besides being a recognized member of The Beatles, he was also very successful at his own solo career, as well. Following his untimely passing in November of 2001, he left a cherished musical legacy that is still admired to this day. This CD release, "Let It Roll", spans his entire solo career, representing his solo works from albums "All Things Must Pass" to "Brainwashed", plus 3 highlights from "The Concert For Bangladesh". The songs selected for this CD display a unique range of great moments. Among the highlights: "Blow Away" was a stand-out 1979 track; "Cheer Down" was featured during the closing credits of the 1989 film "Lethal Weapon 2"; "What Is Life" is one of Harrison's best recordings that was also a hit single in 1970; "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)" reached number one in 1973; Harrison's 1987 cover version of "Got My Mind Set On You" also went to number one; the songs "All Those Years Ago" and "When We Was Fab" were top ten hits during the 80s that also fondly looked back at Beatlemania; George's fisrt solo single was "My Sweet Lord"/"Isn't It A Pity"; "Any Road" earned him a posthumous Grammy nomination; the 3 "Bangladesh" tracks are live performances of the classics "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun". It seems appropriate that this collection be issued 2 months after his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "Let It Roll" is a fine CD release that showcases a brilliant musical genius at his best.

  Ah George!
Review created: 11/09/09

As a real Beatles fan, I think that all of them had great talent. The guitar man of the group, George, was one of the best.
Some of this music I like alot, some is recorded live, and some sounds like a different person to me.
The historic value of this CD alone makes it a necessity to my collection.

ANOTHER Harrison Compilation MISSING key songs - Why?
Review created: 10/13/09
by:

OK, I'll admit: this release annoys me. I've been waiting for a definitive George Harrison repackaging that includes his best rock songs and omits the pop ones. This new release omits some of his key rockers:
- Beware of Darkness
- Devil's Radio
- Crackerbox Palace
- (I Am A )Dark Horse
- You
- No Travelling Wilburys songs (End of the Line, Handle With Care- Harrison penned)
- Cloud Nine
- If Not For You

I just don't understand how ANYONE with access to his catalog hasn't figured out by now that NO Harrison Compilation album/cd has been inclusive yet.
Some of the compilations I understand: they only covered the early George Harrison on Apple, or Dark Horse, or his later albums, but NONE of them include his best material. Whoever is selecting these are missing the boat on a huge money-maker that would include some of George's best hits and best rockers.

The remastering is fine, but some of the songs sound 'too clean' for me. Harrison was best when he sounded fresh and acoustic, and not over-produced. The albums that WERE over-produced tanked and sold so poorly they went out of production for 17 years in CD form.

If you were looking for 'Something' that covered Harrison Post-Beatles period inclusively, this ain't it. Still, song for song, they are excellent, even great, but the Harrison Catalog people missed a golden opportunity for a George Harrison album that hasn't been released yet.

LET IT ROLL, CD by George Harrison was inexpensive .
Review created: 10/07/09

The George Harrison CD, LET IT ROLL was inexpensive and came within a week after I ordered it.
I really like it and I hope to buy more CDs from George, Paul, John and Ringo.
I would like to buy the new Beatles' CD. The Beatles were and still are my favorite group! They were the inspiration for most of my poems.

  George Lives!
Review created: 07/08/09

George was a very underrated songwriter and musician playing in the shadows of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, but this collection of most of his best work must do him proud. He adored John and strived to get his approval and some of his songs reflect his deep and sincere feelings for John. I am pleased to have this CD as part of my "Beatles" collection and you will be too.

Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison

I like the fact that this is a new release of George Harrison. I originally bought the All Things Must Pass, but found this offered more songs without the Jam session on All Things Must Pass. All these songs are actually remastered which makes it really nice.
