A Lesson Before Dying

A Lesson before dying is a motivating, heart touching book! Schools across the nation should have this book in all the English classes! This heart touching novel is about a young innocent black man named Jefferson, which in the late 1940's, was convicted of multiple murders that he did not commit. While Jefferson is in jail a waiting for his time to come, his aunt convinces Grant, the local teacher to educate him.
Grant who doesn't care for Jefferson or anyone else rather than Vivian, his girlfriend, unwillingly accepts his aunt's plea to help Jefferson "become a man". Grant who himself is lost in the world grows closer with Jefferson. They come to understand each other and Grant learns from Jefferson, vise versa. I won't ruin the ending of the book for those who haven't read it yet. This is a great book that will be taught and read for generations to come.
