Les Miserables: 10th Anniversary Concert by Original Cast (CD, Jul-1996, 2 Discs, Red Ink Records USA)

I've bought these CDs before & bought them again on Ebay after I wore out my first set. This is by far the best recording of the Les Miz soundtrack that I've heard. The live setting creates an authentic atmosphere that you can't get from some of the "canned" recordings out there. The all-star line-up of performers give an emotional performance that does justice to the score and rings true to the storyline. If you're a fan of this musical, you won't be disappointed.

The London Symphony Orchestra is astounding. The cast and conductor were superb. I recommend Les Miserables to anyone who may enjoy a spectacular performance bt this particular dream cast. The DVD was worth every penny. I intend to enjoy this performance for years.

I recently bought this CD, and I absolutely love this musical more than life itself! I hope to some day fulfill my dream of seeing it on Broadway, but it would of course have to come back, but I'd settle for London or Shea's (my local theater) if it doesn't happen.
The first Les Mis song I ever heard came from this CD, "Master of House" which is one of my favorites. Alun Armstrong sings the best version of it on here. I also love Colm Wilkinson, who will always be THE original Valjean. Michael Ball and Judy Juhn do an awesome duet of "A Heart Full of Love," and he does an amazing solo of "Empty Chairs." And Lea Salonga last but not least, is great as Eponine. Her and Ball do a very uplifting, but very sad version of "A Little Fall of Rain," the second Les Mis song I ever heard, which I personally like better then either of Cosette and Marius' duets simply because it sends shivers down my spine everytime! Being in concert, I think the Chorus also sounds better.
They don't call it the Dream Cast in Concert for nothing, if you want a Les Mis CD, and you don't mind that it misses like 2 songs, buy this one!

POWERFUL IS THE BEST WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS PERFORMANCE. IF YOU APPRECIATE THE EMOTIONS THAT THE MUSIC EVOKES, YOU NEED THIS CD. (I AM A STRAIGHT MALE,39)

This is certainly one of the best Les Miserables CD available. The songs are sung by an all-star cast of performer and also feature a finale with 17 Valjeans from around the world.

I would say my favorite two songs on this album are "On My Own" (Lea Salonga gives a powerful performance as Eponine), and "Master of the House" (it brings a smile to my face).
