Movie Description
Leon (Jean Reno) is a precise, calculating hit man--a consummate professional, with no family and no friends. However, he has casually befriended Mathilda (Natalie Portman, in an auspicious debut), a 12 year-old neighbor whose entire family, including her adored 4-year-old brother, is wiped out by some crooked DEA agents. The girl pleads with Leon to teach her how to be a "cleaner" and avenge her little brother's death. However, once she learns a few skills, Mathilda saunters into the DEA offices with the sole intention of killing the psychotic agent (Gary Oldman) who actually masterminded the executions. But her intended victim turns the tables on her, and Leon must rescue her. LEON was French director Luc Besson's first film shot in America.

1 of My Favorite movies of all time- Worth the Watch !!

I am not sure why this movie seemed to grab at me the way it did, BUT IT DID. Let's start with a Young Natalie Portman, -wow- she plays a loquacious 12 year old girl- Just Amazing. As far as roles played by children, I think this is 1 of the best. So much talk about Dakota Fanning-as of late ,etc. Natalie is amazing and this role suits her and shows her tremendous talent as an actress. Brings me to the lead - Jean Reno- He is something - for lack of better verbage- Sexy and strong, yet displays this vulnerability that had me "hooked". Great role for him. Wonderful movie, has all the charm of a basic, "rough loner with no family meets sweet child that doesn't have a family worth a damn" kind of theme and takes it up a notch. I am such a Jean Reno fan after this. This particular DVD has the director's cut footage included,(22 additional minutes) I found that kinda interesting. It is also the International edition, I can't say I can specifically tell you the difference but this is the DVD version I would recommend. This movie will grab at your heart and not let go. I promise, not a "chick flick" ,guys...Yes, I do like them too- This is NOT one. Feel confidant in saying, it is a "MUST HAVE" in personal movie collections.
