Leo Kottke - Home & Away Revisited (DVD, 2006)

If you Like Leo's music, would like to see a concert and learn a little more about the man, then this is a DVD to get! You get close ups of his playing, his hands doing their magic and a very nice version of Louise performed on his porch at home. I liked it so well I bought another for a backup. I do not think you will be disappointed with this DVD, I know I wasn't!

If you are already a Kottke fan, then you will definitely want to watch this DVD. If you are an aspiring acoustic guitarist or student of American music and do not yet know of Kottke, then you should definitely watch this DVD. The material is already over 20 years old, so Kottke has since added very much to his repertoire. His sense of composition has matured even more and he now firmly occupies a position among the world's important guitarists. This DVD captures him shortly after an injury forced him to radically rework his technique, a change that allowed, and continues to allow, him far more rhythmic complexity than that found in his "pre-injury" period. In addition to the stellar guitar playing, there is Kottke's quirky, low-key, self-effacing, very human, and very endearing personality, which shines brightly in his often hilarious on-stage monologues and everyday statements about a large swath of topics (such as creativity, life as a musician, and Carl Jung).
