Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (DVD, 2005, Widescreen Collection)

This movie has some unexpected twists and some great graphics! The kids were entertained, and so were the adults!

Although I am not normally a fan of Jim Carey, I found that he did a wonderful job in this movie. In fact, all the actors were great (I especially like Sunny). Adults and children will enjoy this movie.

This movie is enjoyable. The cat of character include Jim Carey, Danny DeVito and Meryl Streep. The children are resourceful and the baby is unforgetable. The story, baaed on a series of books leaves the viewer wanting more and a bit unfulfilled.

I bought Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events for Christmas for my neice. She loves the book series and is dying to have the video. I think the movie was very creative. Jim Carey plays very different characters and he does it well. I haven't read the series but I could easily follow along. I could see a series coming out of the movie as well. I would suggest that the movie be viewed by older kids (ages 9-13) to get the most out of it.

Jim Carrey is amazing playing multiple characters in this very interesting and entertaining dark comedy! Do yourself a favor and watch!

This was not that good. It was not the first three books, it didn't follow the books in the slightest. It would go from a scene in the first book, to a scene in the third book. This was not good. Probably one of Jim Carry's worse performances. Sorry Jim.

I bought the movie for my great-granddaughter who has (and has read) all of the books. We both enjoyed the movie and have watched it three times to date. Each time, we discover unexpected scenes and actions that were missed in previous viewings. I am normally not a fan of Jim Carrey's, however, I can't imagine anyone else in this roll. He was actually very funny, and had us both looking anxiously for his next disguise. All of the children did an exceptional job, also. Highly recommend it to all Lemony Snicket fans.

I really liked this movie and thought it was appropriate for kids of any age. My daughter, who is only 4, usually will not sit through a movie unless it is animated, loved this one. Great movie to see with the family.

MY 4TH GRADER HAS BEEN READING THIS SERIES ALL YEAR AND WE ENJOYED THE MOVIE. WE ONLY WISH THEY WOULD MAKE A SEQUEL TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES.

My eighteen year old daughter asked for this for Christmas. I was a little surprised because we had taken her to see the movie when she was younger and although she liked it, I didn't think it made that big of an impression on her. She says she likes it just as much now.

I just thought it was a neat, funny, enjoyable story. Jim carey was the character I think he really is, and I truly enjoyed Billy Connolly' singing and playing on the autoharp.

What a cute movie. It uses good old fashioned imagination and logic to keep you interested and invested in the characters and their outcome in the movie.

An excellent movie that is sure to become a classic in the future. Highly recommended to any lover of the Jim Carey movies.

So close to a 5 in my opinion, such a deviation from standard revues would that be, that I figured all I could do was give it a 4.
I couldn't give it less and I couldn't give it more: 4.

If there's ANY kid left in you, ANY appreciation for colour and special effect, ANY remembrance of that Award winning Sophie's Choice and YOU didn't give it the 4 it deserved, out of cowardice and conforming to some suggestions it's something less, in some locations...well...

Maybe you should see it again.

Watch for the scene with the boat eating fish and compare it to the Pierce Brosnan movie where he's driving 4 people through lava in a jeep that later gets up to about 50 MPH.
There is a comparison between those two for funny...absolutely hilarious, Dante's Peak.

my son enjoyed it said it was good. I cannot say myself so maybe he should have wrote this review . We were pleased that he was pleased.

Its my favorite movie overall because of its mysteriousness. But thats just me personally. I recomend it 100%.

We love the DVD. It arrived very quickly. There is nothing I don't like about the movie. My family was very happy to recieve it.

Jim Carrey Strikes again.

Although this movie is a little out of order compared to the books, Jim Carrey manages to keep it extremely watchable. A must have for the fans of Lemony Snickets books, fans of Jim Carrey, and fans of DVD of general.

I loved the cinematography of this film. Great actors and great acting by Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep and the child actors. A little dark maybe for some children but my little girl who is 6 and afraid of many movies really enjoyed watching this and didn't have nightmares or anything. In fact, she has watched it over and over again.

This movie is one of the silliest family movies I've seen in quite a while. Jim Carey makes another blockbuster movie as Count Olaf and the kids really compliment the actors strengths as a comedian. There is some peril issues that I had to explain to my 6 year old and that 'no, you can't really be eaten by fish'! There are about 4 death scenes(deaths not actually shown)that was a little disturbing for a small child, but other than that it was a great movie about three children and their family bond and their resilience to survive.

Characters were very accurate, storyline followed pretty well. My grandson loves this movie and we are reading the books together

This movie, starts out like "Here we go" but once jim carey comes you realise that you just suppose to laugh. And at that you will. It has a good Story and lots of funny Jim.

I give it a 9 out of 10.
