The Lemon Jelly Cake is a delightful story told by a young girl. There are experiences that had me laughing out loud. I read this book two years ago and loaned it to a friend. I haven't gotten it back but wanted a copy of this book for my library. I know I will read it again and again.

This book gives us an honest look at marriage and friendship in a small town.
You'll also love the sense of of wonder at the unspoiled beauty if Illinois.
The author, Madeline Babcock Smith published lots of short stories, essays and poetry, but this is her only novel. I wish there were more.
