The new Leica Ultravid 8x42 binoculars have an all-new body shell is made of lightweight but sturdy magnesium, and is slimmer in size than the current BN range. The hinge shaft made of a new light weight titanium version. The prisms are also coated with the new Leica Highlux System, a newly developed mirror layer which increases light transmission considerably and gives clearer definition in the distance. In addition, the improved optical and mechanical configuration markedly reduces stray light. the Leica Ultravid 8x42 are dry nitrogen filled, waterproof to 5m and have a close focus of c.3.1m. These and other sophisticated refinements quickly make it obvious why the Ultravid line represents a new class of binocular.
