Pros
+ Brings classic Legend of Zelda gaming to a new console with fresh controls & an artistic vision that is simply described as 'beautiful'.
+ Huge boss battles as always.
+ Story telling is getting better even without changing to a dialogue script.
+ Responsive controls & no more button mashing ever

Cons
- Graphics could have been pushed a little further (not as much background detail as other next-gen games have. Gives the game a muddy texture feel.)
- Still no dialogue but the cinematic story telling & character emotions make up for it.
- Aiming is a little sensitive with the controller (not exactly lightgun accurate).

Comments
Legend of Zelda has never looked quite so good or been this much fun. Now is a great time to own a next-gen console & this game is the killer app if you own a Wii. Although the graphics are not truly next-gen since this game was originally a Gamecube title, the next-gen controls & gameplay make up for any faults the game may have. I love the soundtrack & the cinematic feel of the game. Horseback riding across miles & miles of open space is a lot of fun as well. This is the same series you have come to know & love but still manages to bring a fresh spin to the world of Link & Zelda.

Verdict
Must buy for any fan of the series or any Wii owners. Great value for so very many hours of gaming.

Great game, keep me entertained for a long time

This game is great. It is long so it kept me entertained for a long time. The graphics are terrific and very artistic! The control is a little complex therefore hard to remember sometimes, especially after you stop playing for a while. And sometimes the puzzles can also be frustrating. But overall I think it's a good game that's worth playing.

Review from a modern Zelda NOOB!

I have played Zelda on NES, just like many others. This does not even slightly compare to that old school Zelda. I have not played any Zelda series since atleast 15 years ago.. being said.. as this was on Gamecube.. I am writing my review from the stand point of never playing this on gamecube, and playing it only on Wii. Point said.. this game is good. The controlls are great. The graphics are ok (not comparable to PS3). The content is fun, and kept me playing for several hours.. I do not play game like this, nor RPG's... so being that I did play this one, it had to be good. This game challenged me at times and made me wuit. I bought Paper Mario and sold it within 15 hours "in my other review", because I felt this game was so much better. This game was before the Wii Paper Mario, so you'd expect more out of games after.. wrong. This game was a great launch title in my opinion, and is better than most they are trying to push and produce up to this date.

  Wonderful Zelda Game 10/10

Story 10/10

Fantastic. Well done Nintendo. What they accomplished here was great. To sum it up; once again, your a younger link, living in the the village known as Ordan Village. You help out people at a ranch, with your lovely horse Epona. You help out the villagers, and the children of the village. You are expected to become the village chief, and your respected by everyone in the town. Your loved by the children, and they take after you and your skills. You are told by a man in town that you will deliver something to the Royal Castle in hyrule. Your excited, but have to wait 2 days. Then something weird happens. These monkey's come out of no where, and the children go after it. It's Link's job to go after them , and save them. After fighting your way through the Ordan Woods, you make your way to where the Monkey's are being held captive, and you find one of the kids there, captured. You free the good monkey and the child, and return home. You get Epona taken away by one of the children who adore's epona, but finds a wound on her. She won't let Link take Epona to go to Hyrule, but then another child Colin comes and convinces Ilia the child, to let Link take epona. But then out've no where.....a monster on a giant boar comes out've no where and attacks the youth. You get hit by the monster, and then your about to become unconscious, and see Colin, and Ilia swept off by the monster...into the Twilight Zone. You then wake up in the twilight zone, as a wolf, and as the hero of hyrule. To top it off, your new helper Midna helps you on your quest to escape from the realm of the twilight zone, but not before meeting someone. Interesting right? Well it just gets better and better, trust me.

Game Play 10/10

Perfect perfect, and more perfect. My expectations of this game were fufilled. Just swing the wiimote and you will swing your sword in the game. Wave the nunchuk, and you'll do a spin slash. Even when your a wolf, just swing the wiimote and you'll attack the enemy/enemies your facing. Anything is possible.

Graphics 10/10

Another perfect. Well maybe not that good graphics, but their still amazing for the wii. For those that didn't like the Wind Waker "Celda", then welcome back to OOT's look. Except it's even better graphics. I know they don't match up to the PS3's graphics at all, or the 360's graphics, but their pretty good fort he wii, compared to other titles like Red Steel, and Excite Truck.

Controls 10/10

Once again perfect. Most games like Red Steel, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, and excite truck need better controls. Welcome to Zelda. It's much more accurate. The actions are simple. Simply just swing the wiimote, and you'll slash with your sword on the game. Anyone new to the series can fully enjoy the controls, young to old. Now you move with the nunchuk. So it makes it easy to move and slash at the same time, but twice the amount of fun. And your arm doesn't hurt. Just a simple flick of the wiimote can send enemies flying.

Overall 10/10

Every thing perfect. I really don't find anything wrong with this game. It was definitely worth of the $50 I payed for it, and is worth the effort and time. Buy or Rent? Go buy it now. I said it. X this, and go buy this game now. Any fans of the series will love the game, and any new-comers will find it fun too. If your seriously still sketchy about this game, then go rent it. Don't blame me for the late fee though. Well I hoped you enjoyed the review.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 4 the Wii
Review created: 11/19/06(updated 11/21/06)
7 of 18 people found this review helpful.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a video game in Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda series, for Wii & the Nintendo GameCube. Originally planned for release in November 2005, Nintendo delayed it so that the developers could add more content and fine-tune the game. The Wii version was released on the console's launch date November 19, 2006 in North America & subsequent versions will follow on the other Wii launch dates.

Twilight Princess is the first game in The Legend of Zelda series to be rated T by the ESRB, for animated blood and fantasy violence.

It's awesome, much more hard than any previous Zelda it doesnt hold you by the hand all the way like to others. This game is great to play on the wii it will gets you more involved & active with the game the store are sold out...

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Wii Style

For starters, if you are a Zelda fan and have a Wii, this is a must have. The graphics are great, and the game is just as good as and better than some of the other Zelda games out there.

The major plus to this version of Zelda, is the interactive game play. You hook up your remote and nunchuk, and your on your way into the world of Zelda. You really get to fight your way through the levels, using your sword and shield ( remote and nunchuk) all the way.

And even better, there are add ons avaiable for the remote and nunchuk out there for the Zelda games. If you need alittle help getting into the mood of the game, grab yourself a Zelda Sword and Shield add on for your controls and you will soon be sucked right in.

Great game for a grandpa with no video game experience

I'm 65 years old and retired. I bought a Wii and knew nothing about Zelda or much about other games. I want to tell you that playing Zelda at first I was bored and ready to resell it. But as I played it I got stuck and had to get some help with cheat sheets. I got addicted to the game that I just couldn't stay away from it and my wife gave me a little static about it. So I stayed up to 3:00 a.m. many nights so I could play it. I got a little excited and nerved up when I had to face the bosses but that just got my blood flowing.I beat the game with 164 hours in it which is alot of hours. I am now starting over and it is just as much fun to play as the first time. If you want a game that passes time quicker then you think Wii Zelda is it. I look forward to playing when winter comes so I will have something to do to pass the time. I love the game and I'm sure others would after they got into it. I rate it excellent.

The best of the Zelda Series!!! AAAA+++
Review created: 05/30/08

Ok, I bought this game for my kids, but..... there is nothing like an old time favorite character like Link to bring out the kid in myself! Nintendo likes to use Mario as it's trademark character, but I would have to say that Link and Zelda in the land of Hyrule are the ones that keep bringing people back! Like any growth in technology, the new systems allow for a much broader type of programming and video art to come to the forefront, and the gaming levels advance. This is no exception. I have played all of the other Zelda games, and I love them all, but this has to be by far the best of them all! The 'HAND'S ON' approach to gaming that the Wii system allows makes this a much more enjoyable game that really puts you into the picture. I can't really get in depth with the whole game (I'm still playing) but so far so good! If you have enjoyed the previous games along the years, you will be MORE than satisfied with this one! HIYA!

  Strong Atmosphere. Weak Dungeons.
Review created: 10/09/07
by:
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I'm rating this game independent of the series. If I were to compare it to the other Zelda games, I would give it a "Poor" rating.

The one thing Zelda Wii does well is provide a powerful atmosphere. The entire game is oozing (literally sometimes) with atmosphere. You can't help but want to dip into it again and again until you've won. Unfortunately, it does several things poorly. Zelda Wii is a pretty game but it lacks substance. This is a very, very easy game. This is a short game. It amazes me at how the designers can put so much detail into a combat scene, yet make the combat scene short-lived and very easy. It *is* pretty, though.

Each area is intimately detailed. In the game you travel across every type of landscape. You will be sledding in the icy mountains at one point. At another, you will be riding a giant pig in the desert. Then, we have the Twilight world. For lack of a better word, it is awesome. The particle effects used to "pull" Link, the main character, into the Twilight world are very neat. The monsters and areas here are also very well done. They do exactly what the designers wanted. They make you feel vertigo, delirium, fear, etc. This is from a purely Visual standpoint, however. The gameplay doesn't back up the amazing visual display this game provides.

The gameplay is standard swordplay fare. You're a guy... with a sword... swing the sword. Granted, we swing the Wii Remote to produce the sword swing, which is great, but we're still doing the same activity we've done in this type of game for years. It's nothing new, folks. We have missile weapons. The bow and arrow is standard point and shoot. The boomerang is neat in that we choose its path and fire it. However, it is rarely practical to do that in combat, so it acts more like a puzzle-piece rather than a unique fighting tool. In fact, most combat situations are solved with your sword. This is made true because of the many sword techniques that you will learn.

As the game progresses, you unlock new sword abilities. It's wonderful these abilities are available. However, with the exception of the death strike, their application is rarely practical. The draw-slice skill is useful against one type of monster, for example. The spin-behind-attack is useful against a select-few as well. Instead of being moves that one can string into a cohesive skill set for any sword fight, they turn into a unlockable solution for an individual monster. While this may Work, it doesn't make the sword-skills an overly amazing addition to the game. They're simply Not Needed to beat this game. As are many things made available. For example, the heart containers after a boss fight are arguably needed.

I am not an overly skilled gamer, but I'm pretty good. I challenge myself on Zelda games by beating them with minimum possible hearts. This game is beatable with three. So I only used three heart containers. I died but Once. The reason is that the bosses have very distinguishable patterns. They all provide copious regeneration. The levels provide no challenges that overly threaten health totals. Even the time I died, I considered it a fluke. The game simply isn't difficult. I can't imagine an average gamer who acquires all heart containers to die at any point during the game. So, if you want a challenge, don't buy this.

That's just it. If you want a visually stunning title for your Wii, this is your game. If you want a challenge, go elswhere. This is child's play.

Thanks,

Matt

  Great Time--Disappointing Graphics
Review created: 03/27/07

Those hoping to see Link in a fresh, high-definition light will be disappointed. This game doesn't look much better than it's Gamecube counterpart.

However, the game itself is amazing. Twilight Princess brings the player everything that we love about Zelda games, plus some.

If you're looking for great graphics, you're playing the wrong console. But if you want a great game, you will not be disappointed here.

Simply the best game for Wii
Review created: 12/31/06

With a bigger storyline than any of the previous Zelda's, improved graphics that show just how good the Wii can make graphics look, and incredible use of the wii mote and its capabilities. This game is a must have for those who have a Wii. If you have played a Zelda game before, you will feel right at home. If you just bought a Wii because its cool and you never played a Nintendo game before, then it will take you some time to figure out some of the puzzles and such. You should eventually get the hang of it though.

The BEST Zelda Ever...The BEST Video Game Ever...I Know
Review created: 12/13/06(updated 08/09/07)
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This game along with the Wii itself is the best video gameplay EVER. With the Wii's new technology you actually become Link. It's so different that at first it takes some real getting used to...but afterwards I couldn't seem to put it down for nothing. It is even really fun to watch which my son insists on doing every time I play and my father-in-law has enjoyed hours of watching at a time as well.

With the new motion sensor technology you actually feel so much more a part of the game...so much more involved...the experience becomes real...the game becomes real. With each new level in the game there's a new and exciting experience and a new way to experience it.

I really can not put into words what it is actually like playing and experiencing this new Zelda. If you have played and loved all of the Zelda's over the years such I have you WILL NOT...WILL NOT be disappointed with this one either. Matter of fact, it will be so hard to want to go back to the old way of playing. Though, I do have to admit the first couple of days I did have a slight sore arm but that went away quickly and now I'm gaining muscle just from playing a video game.:o)

Nintendo, you did it again! Thank you!

P.S. I see some people aren't agreeing...how can you not?

  Twilight Princess a Must have

The Wii has far out done the New Legends of Zelda: Twilight Princess. With the Innovation that the Wii has to offer, you are thrown into the action as link hurries to save his friends and meet new ones on the way. Also the world is doubled by being able to travel to the alterate world which is called the twilight realm. Link is then turned into a wolf and his helped by a strange yet funny demon like character. This may be the Darkest Zelda Game ever created, But its also the Best. This is a Must Buy! for this Christmas. Also the Game will come out For the Gamecube in Mid December!
