Description
Originally released as a bonus disk for those who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest contains GCN versions of Ocarina of Time and the never-released 64DD Ura Zelda (a remixed version of Ocarina of Time with harder dungeons ... Only true heroes will make it through this quest alive!). Fans of Nintendo's acclaimed series can play both of these games on their GameCubes, and enjoy a few technical improvements over the N64 versions, namely a higher 640x480 resolution, Dolby Pro-Logic surround sound support, and 480p Progressive Scan support. Veterans and newcomers alike will find something to enjoy with this excellent port of the classic N64 game.

Special Features
  • Guided by a mysterious ocarina, Link will have to travel through time as he fights evil in different stages of his life.
  • As Link becomes immersed in a story for the ages, he'll explore a vast world filled with fascinating characters and dangerous creatures.
  • Battle your way through the original adventure-one of the greatest games of all time-or take the epic challenge of the remixed Master Quest.

Ocarina of Time my favorite game next to Halo

I have several games that I play every year and this is one of them. My top games...Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, Halo, Halo2, Zelda Windwaker and Ocarina of Time. I highly recommend this game. It's a classic.

Ocarina of Time with a little something extra

the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest is a re-release of both versions of the game, the original Nintando 64 version, and the cancelled Ura Zelda version for the N64DD add-on. Both games are included on this pre-order bonus set, and it is indeed worth checking out.
The Master Quest itself is mostly the same as the original game, as far as I know only the dungeons were altered. The room layout is the same, but with new puzzles and fiendishly-placed extra enemies that make things a lot more difficult in some areas. Overall it was nice to play these remixed dungeons, but I wish they had made some more changes for this release, it's different enough to be fresh and fun after a couple years, but too similar to warrant playing both versions back-to-back.
Being a Gamecube release, Nintendo wisely decided to put the games into high-resolution, making the graphics quite a bit crisper than the originals. Too bad the framerate hasn't improved, it runs at probably 20-30 FPS, which is pretty strange considering the Gamecube is infinitely more powerful than the N64. Still, OoT is plenty playable, the framerate is only an occasional nuisance. There a a couple minor sound issues as well, and the save system seems tedious with the addition of the memory card (much like the FF anthologies on PSX). But hey, still no load times, God bless cartridge games for that.
The control is nice, adapting to the GC controller really only takes a few minutes to master.
Overall I'd recommend checking out the Master Quest, but remember that deja can be misleading, especially in remixed dungeons.
