Legend (DVD, 2002, Ultimate Edition (2 Discs))

This is the first movie I first saw Tom Cruise in. This is a great fantasy movie. Every part of this film is spectacular. The scenery is beautiful, the costumes are excellent, the music is perfect, and the love story is wonderful. This is a classic good against evil story. You will love this imaginative film.

I grew up watching this movie. It is actually the first movie I cried during, I was about 5 I think. I am so excited and cannot wait to receive this! It is going to look AWESOME on the new big screen t.v!

Great Movie that stars Tom Cruise, Tim Curry and many other a-list talents and an amazing director Rodley Scott. Highly recommend this movie for anyone who wants to escape from the reality of this world and go to another fantasy life.

Classic movie i grew up watching and just amazing to finally have it on dvd. Tom cruise is just superb along with tim curry. Ridley scott is just a amazing producer that i really wish came out with more movies.

This movie is vivid to the point of being psychedelic. I'm sure the 2002 version has digital remastering to make it even more intense. And again, I tend to harp on this, but this film was made before gaudy/cheesey excessive computer graphics became the norm. Those CGI-overloaded films won't be classics years from now like Legend is!! Have a character jumping into a river? In the "old days" a human actually had to jump in a river instead of being lazy an programming an image to do the same.

This is a classic good vs evil epic, great cast and cinematography.

For starters, I am NOT a Tom Cruise fan. Unfortunately my wife is. I AM a fan of the fantasy genre in its many forms (books, movies, video games, etc.). I remember seeing Legend when I was a kid and thinking it was the greatest fantasy movie I had seen. Now that I am an adult and I see it again, I am reminded of why I enjoyed it so much as a kid. Ridley Scott does an amazing job filming this movie. The art direction is beautiful. From the dark eery creatures, to the magical forest scenes with unicorns and fairies, Scott really captures what a fairy tale world should look like. The acting is great, although not so much by Cruise. Tim Curry is awesome as Darkness. He makes the movie. Anybody who enjoys a good fairy tale cannot afford to miss this one.

Long before the success of the "Lord of the Rings", there was "Legend", a movie about good and evil, darkness and light. The story revolves around the mythical faerie creature called the unicorn. As long as unicorns roam the earth, evil can never come to the pure of heart. Due to this, the evil Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry) has sent his most evil goblin Blix (Alice Playten) to cut off the horn of the unicorn. Without their horn, the unicorn loses its power and the earth will be shrouded in darkness.

However, two other mortals, Jack (Tom Cruise) and his beautiful young friend Lily (Mia Sara) live in the forest as well. Jack takes Lily to see the mythical creatures, but Lily mistakenly touches one of them, and, unknown to her, she has secretly led Blix and his minions to the creatures in the process. Frightened by Lily's touch, the unicorns bolt, but not before Blix unleashes a poisoned arrow at them. The arrow strikes home, and soon one of the unicorns is down. Blix raises his sword and severs the unicorn's horn. Triumphantly, he begins his journey to the Lord of Darkness, the prized horn accompanying him. Immediately after the horn was severed, the forest is covered in frost and snow. Gone is the sunlight and warmth.

Soon, Jack is joined by several other forest creatures, led by the elf Honeythorn Gump (David Bennett). Their task is to retrieve the horn and heal the unicorn before the Lord of Darkness gains possession. To make matters worse for Jack and his friends, the other unicorn and Lily have been captured and taken prisoner. Will Jack arrive in time to free Lily and regain possession of the horn, or will the Lord of Darkness succeed in his quest to rid the world of all unicorns so he can rule the world in total darkness?

This is a very good movie. The story is exciting, and the special effects are well-done. I am a big fan of fantasy fiction, both books and movies, and I was very impressed with this movie. Although the special effects are nothing like those found in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, they are still very good for the time it was produced.

I give this movie my highest recommendation.

Tom Cruise, Mia Sara and Tim Curry star in this 1985 Fantasy epic from Director Ridley Scott. I've always loved this movie growing up and now it's great to finally have it on dvd. I love Tim Curry as the Lord of Darkness and think he's one of the best movie villians. This dvd set contains the Theatrical Cut and Ridley Scott's never-before-seen Director's Cut. Both versions feature different musical scores, The Theatrical version is composed by Tangerine Dream and the Director's Cut is composed by Jerry Goldsmith. They are both beautiful scores. This amazing set also contains many extras like deleted scenes, photo galleries and more. I recommend getting this dvd, especially because it has both versions of the film to enjoy.

The movie was good. It was somewhat drawn out at times but overall a nice film to watch. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys movies like The Neverending Story.

This is an old movie, like it first came out on VHS waaaay back in 1988 or something. The DVD quality is spectacular. I had a great time watching it again, it's one of my all-time favorites, thank you for having it!

DVD came in perfect factory condition, used the standard shipping but only got a note from Ebay that it had shipped. The shipment had a tracking number with it for good business practice, go ahead and add that to the note that was sent anyway once it was shipped, gives buyer the sence of secuity and trust.

This movie grabs you and holds on from start to finish...without killing anyone. The makeup is absolutely outstanding. There were no shortcomings in the production of this fantasy of good versus evil.

This is a movie that my husband has loved since he was young. He thinks it is one of the best Tom Cruise movies ever. Personally I think it is fine, his role isn't a defining one to me. The movie is quite cute in it's fantasy storyline and the costumes are pretty good for the time it was made. If you like fantasy movies with demons and heroes, this is a fun one to watch.

I love this movie, believe it or not, there aren't many movies made like this that are this well done. The acting is great, the ideas, for the 80's it very much ahead of it's time...I decided to buy it because it's very hard to find---actually IMPOSSIBLE to find anywhere.
I recommend this movie to everyone, it keeps you believing....that's what I got out of it when I first saw it..I like the devil in it, you don't see a devil played that well or really at all...it's ....'legendary'.

Saw it before but did not have on DVD. This whole movie is filled with fantasy, action, and even a love story...This suspenseful action packed love story will keep you in your seat! Great for the Whole family!
