Legacy of Evil by Greg Farshtey (2006, Paperback)

This is the book of the history, history of every Evil that exists in the Bionicle universe; from Brotherhood of Makuta to Dark Hunters and Piraka with them.

As I've already said in my blog, the first sentences of the book are quite hard to read. It's like you would come to the other dimension and the reader has some kind of "get used" to what he reads and will read till the very end of the book. It's kind of retrospective of everything what we have read already, but this time from the other point of view - the evil one.

The story brings us through the universe and Tales of Zaktan - the Piraka who is most eager to put its hands on the Mask of Life - 7000 years ago when all Piraka by some coincidence became Dark Hunters. But Piraka didn't particularly enjoy that role and tried several times to eliminate The Shadowed One - the leader of The Dark Hunters and be their leaders by themselves. They did many bad deeds and they discovered a lot of valuable things and one day they just decided they will go out of the organization and become even more powerful then any Evil ever was ...

Through Zaktan's memories we travel to Metru Nui, which Dark Hunters wanted to invade several times and we learn how Nidhiki - once one of the Toa of Air - became the Dark Hunter and what was behind the scene in that big cataclysm in Metru Nui when Makuta finally unleashed his shadows, putting Matoran into slumber and fighting with the Toa Metru for the Mask of Time. We also learn there were many more Toa helping Metru Nui and not just one.. Many more surprising things we learn from the story, including how Piraka came to island of Voya Nui with the mission to steal the Mask of Life and conquer the universe.

With this book we get the complete view of how all began and learn that Makuta was only one of Matoran's fears, maybe even not so powerful as some of other dark creatures. The story also explains all the LEGO Bionicle sets which came out so rapidly and for which sometimes seamed they don't even fit into the story.

The book holds so many (for Bionicle fans) valuable information about what was really going on in Bionicle world and also explains the new and old characters and their past in the Bionicle world.

The tittle just fits to the content perfectly. However I found the section in the book which gives the reader the feeling of rushing like the author would be so eager to finish it, so he could start a new one. The book holds the reader in tension through and one who has a lot of spare time would rather read it in one peace.
