Legacy Study Bible by Hank Hanegraaff
Review created: 02/16/09

We recently began attending a bible church and after 22 years with my NIV Study Bible, found that I needed to change to a NKJV bible. This was not easy to do. I was very attached to my NIV study bible and all the notes I had made over the years. To start over was most-assuredly an overwhelming thought! I looked at a LOT of bibles, but not one met ALL the criteria I was looking for in a new bible... that is, not until I was introduced to the Legacy Study Bible by Hank Hanegraaff. It not only met all expectations... it EXCEEDED them! I am so excited about starting my new journey in God's Word using this awesome bible! My most important wish was for space to make notes in my bible. This bible has lots of space EVERYWHERE to write notes in it. The margins are the widest you will surely find anywhere... both left/right and center columns on each page and large top margin at top of each page. It also has lined pages at the end of the books for additional notes. Even the concordance has extra lined spaces to add your own entries should a word not be included already. The personal pages in the front to record marriage, births, baptisms, deaths, family trees, also have unique pages to include your spiritual birth, conversion experience, and legacy alters documenting God's faithfulness in your life as a testimony of His goodness. It also includes a 4-page Gospel Presentation that would help walk you through God's plan of salvation with anyone you meet. In the back are beautiful color maps. All this bound in leather = perfection! I love the concept that YOU are creating your very own personal STUDY bible as God speaks to you through your study of His word. It will be a joy to leave this "legacy" of my walk with God to my children and theirs. If you are looking for a new bible... be sure to check this one out! You will surely be blessed! :)

  GREAT TOOL
Review created: 02/16/08

There is nothing too much one could say about this book to make it special; it speaks for itself. Have you every look at a preacher's, pastor's, deacon's, etc., book? It will basically have the whole sermon from when the church has 1st been built. Well this is the book for him and anyone who has always wanted to write in their bible. This book has space, spACE, everywhere, even in the concordance.

Hank's idea for this book, according to his broadcast, came from looking at the bible his father, after death, had left behind. Hank called this his father's legacy, and saw his dad's whole sermons written in it, and thought, wouldn't it be great to have a bible with space. This extra room, Hank says, is for callers who call CRI, do bible study on their on, or simple take notes from a pastor.

Now, according to Gordon D. Fee, one whom Hank calls a giant in the faith, all we need is a book that translates the translation.

WHY: Hanks bible is in the NKJV version, again according to Gordon, this is not a good study tool , but the TNIV/NIV, NRSV/NASU, GNB/NAB, and REB/NJB in that order from best to the next best is. (Now this does not mean don't buy it for even Hank says test scripture in light of scripture. My opinion is having one translations limits you to the that text and if misunderstood is because of your interpretation. Gordon and Hank will both agree with me on that and that we need cross refeences and other tools to read for all it is worth.)

REASON: because the KJV, NKJV, NASB, and a few others use terms like shekles, baths, and talents that mostly deal with money and these are not our modern terms and the studier does not know how much that is.

REFERENCE: (Gordon D. Fee & Douglas Stuart (2003) A Good Translation. In the book How to Read the Bible for All its Worth (chapter 2 pp. 33-53) Zondervan) This book is still awesome because although you study with another book translation by your side you can write what you didn't know but now know in your on legacy bible.
