Movie Description As the accordionist for successful Cajun group Balfa Toujours, Dirk Powell knows a thing or two about creating that undeniably Cajun sound. In part one of this instructional series, he lays down the basics for the novice player. Through clear demonstrations and easy-to-follow instructions, viewers will learn how to hold the accordion, use the bellows, and find the right notes. Powell also introduces the concept of the "double" octave, a staple of the waltzes and two-steps that make up the Cajun style. Lessons and lyrics are provided for the following songs: "The High Point Two-Step," "Johnny Can't Dance," and "The 99 Year Waltz."
