Learn Ballet Step-by-Step (DVD, 2006, Includes Audio CD)

I got this video for my girls who love to "dance ballet" but aren't quite ready for a class. Many other girls their age take classes (5 years!) but this was a good substitute. It didn't keep their attention the first time, as it really is a "class" not a "look at me in my tutu" video. I think that the fundamentals are good, but my little girls haven't been that enamoured with it, yet. The ask for it occasionally, and I think it will be better when they are a bit older and more determined to learn ballet vs. just look pretty in a tutu.

For my 3-4 year old who loves to dance this dvd went way too fast and didn't really explain clearly. For an older child, or a child who has had previous dance classes, this may be a good brush-up exercise or practice - but for my little beginning ballerina it was't a good choice. She lost interest after about 5 minutes, despite her normally good attention span - and hasn't wanted to put it on again since. She loves her dance class - but this dvd was a waste of money for us.

This DVD is a great supplement to my daughter's (age 7) Ballet class. This gives all the basics any little one would need to get the understanding of the movement and body placement for dance. The teacher is easy to understand and there are a few little girls of varying abilities and shapes to follow along!

Love it because I wanted to get my daughter in ballet school but she was not quite ready for it still running around and not focus. However this is the first step to getting her ready so when she goes to ballet school she will be head of the game and ready to a successful future God willing if that is her passion. For now as a child she loves ballet and loves her new activity with me. Thanks a mill and take care and God bless Grace
