We bought my 3 year old a Pixter.... my husband and I played with it first and thought it was not educational enough. Basically it was just a digital drawing pad... Little to high tech for a three year old... We returned it for the Leapster and we LOVE it and so does she!!! She takes it EVERYWHERE! and we have only bought 2 games and she is just so happy you would have thought we gave her a million dollars!! She does not get bored with it easily like most of the toys she has and it keeps her so quiet in the car! A+

LeapFrog LeapSter L-Max - Handheld game system: I bought my son this unit after reading almost every box of software description available (what good is the unit if the software isn't any good?). I found LeapSter software better than what is available for V-Tec units. This LeapSter unit works wonder, we could plug in some of the game on TV depends on the quality of the graphic of the game. The unit is easy to use, except it took me a while to realised that there is a button on the pen as well. My son is only 5 years old, and he could master the basic operation in just a few days. He now has 4 software. This is a well designed unit in everyway I highly recommand it to every parents.

I have three children ages 4, 6, and 8. They (and I) LOVE it. VERY educational. My 4 year old doesn't even have a problem navigating through all the games. It is teaching my 6 year old how to be more confident in his reading - and he doesn't even realize he is learning. He just thinks it is pure fun. My 8 year old loves all the older games as well. It also comes with games (without a cartridge) that are fun (and educational, of course) - I even play them! I am not into video games and such for my children - but this little gadget is a must have! I do recommend that you buy the electric plug-in. It's no fun when the batteries go out and you are in the middle of a game. I do go on batteries only sometimes and they can get a good full week or more. (This is with them playing it about an hour a day.)

I have purchased two differant Leapster. My kids love them and they are very easy to use and work great in the car. I did notice that one went bad after a month but I called Leapfrog and they sent out a new one and I sent the old one back. There are tons of games for both boys and girls. You cant go wrong with this product. Its a great alteritive to vido systems. My children are 8,6,4 and all of them can play it. Youll find you self playing the games. I found the unit to be derable and easy to uase. I would recommend buying an adapter at the store they are about 10.00.

We really wanted a platform that is rechargeable and this hit it on the head! Did not want to buy a new one and this device really works well for a long time they seem to be very resilient to young ones. The big reason is the learning factor...and this really helps our kids!
