The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
A fast paced Action fare; but thin on plot and character development. The lead roles seem shallow and it is assumed by the Producer/Director that the audience knows all about the characters past heroics/deeds and mis-deeds. This puts the motivation for the movie at risk. We never get to understand the why behind the villian - why is he angry, why this type of lash out against society; why does this group of adventurers seems to know everything he is going to do but have no clue who he is. The science seems about 40 years too advanced for a near 1900 year setting. HOWEVER, even with all these flaws, it is enjoyable to watch Sean Connery in what is close to his last acting show.
It is a diverting yarn; pleasant to watch but will not keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation. But to pass about 2 hours away on a lazy afternoon or evening - it's just the light action fare you'd enjoy watching.
