Laura's daughter Rose Wilder Lane was as fascinating a person as you would ever meet. In her day she married and divorced and set out as a single women to conquer the world. Journalist, well know writer, political activist. Inside are photos are Rose in many stages of her life. Before Laura was famous, Rose was famous. Rose was the editor of the Little House books. Her relationship with her Mother was tempestuous. She did feel a responsibility toward her parents as their only child. Rose didn't know she had a little brother until after her Mother died. He little brother died as an infant. A fascinating read.

Wow! Things You'd Never Think About Little Rose
Review created: 08/14/08

An interesting woman is an understatement when it comes to Rose Wilder Lane. I was pleasantly surprised and taken aback by some of her beliefs. Regarding politics, this woman had her own way of thinking unlike anything I've ever read. Perhaps it's because I was reading about Laura's little girl and had my own expectations.
Back in "those days", she was far different from what you would ever think. From an independent girl who traveled the world to the ways she showed love to her parents, you get the sense that she was controlling and odd to say the least, yet still a sweet person.
I wholly recommend reading this booklet. One sentence in particular has had a great impact on my own life regarding social security which was the one thing her involvement with President Hoover and WWII she felt strongly about. I couldn't help but agree with her.
Her many writings and books are a bit over the top but that's what makes her more interesting than you expect.
Recommended reading for ages 12 and up.
