Laugh and Learn - About Childbirth (DVD, 2005)

This DVD answered our questions regarding signs and symptoms of labor, and how to do the Lamaze breathing exercises. It gives invaluable advice on practical matters for delivery and recovery. The teacher speaks from years of experience as a labor nurse and lamaze instructor and birth of her own children. My husband and I enjoyed watching it together and it was presented with a little humor so that you do not get bored. There are five segments ranging from 30 to 60 minutes each (approx), so you can do one section and later go back and review the class you want.

This video will provide techniques for pregnant women in regards of how to facilitate those last but tireless hours before the actual delivery.

The video presents lots of advise in how to manage during the different stages of labor, respiration exercises, and tons of useful information for both the parents.

It presents a comprehensive hour by hour description of every stage of labor & delivery with graphics and other in site exercises with couples.

It was very helpful for both of us and we're very happy we watch this video.

My husband and I had a hard time with his work schedule to fit in a childbirth class, so we bought this video. It was nice being able to watch it whenever we wanted and I could go back over things later that I was curious about seeing again. Cheaper and more accessible than the class. Very infomative for my first child!

The woman who hosts this DVD is the most annoying host of any program ever!!! It is hard to learn when you find yourself wishing that the the host would catch on fire or turn into a blimp and fly far far away!!! Sheri Bayles is the hosts name and boy does she love to HOWL and scream into her microphone!! Yes I understand my wife will be doing this during childbirth but Sheri is the most annoying person I have ever viewed on my television!! Avoid this DVD!! Sheri Bayles is a sucky host and is an annoying teacher! The camera work is so bad that many of the displays are hard to see which makes learning even more frustrating! We have many other DVD's about childbirth and all of them are one hundred million times better than this one. PREPARE TO BE ANNOYED!!!! I work in television and I can tell you that the production quality of this DVD at best is VERY POOR! Save your money!!!!!!!

Love the video. It is very informative. Teaches everything you would need to know about the signs of labor, labor itself, breathing techniques, pain medications, c-sections, machines in the hospital room, etc. Definitely prepares one to feel like they know about all the different things that could happen during labor to help them make an informed decision as to how they want their labor to go. Sherry (the lamaze teacher) is funny and makes you feel comfortable yet she does not hold back the truth! I would recommend this DVD to anyone who cannot attend a childbirth class, or in addition to the class! This was an excellent purchase!

great video i decided to buy it when my girl friend was about 5 months along it was well spoke of online and in the book let that the drs gave us all in all good dvd

She covers a lot of ground at a pretty fast pace (a plus for me). Another advantage was that it was filmed live with an audience so they think of some questions you would have wanted to ask. The only disadvantage I found was that she can be a little corny at times - her sense of humor is pretty predictable. That doesn't interfere with the content at all, so I'd definitely recommend it to others.
Just a disclaimer: I haven't given birth yet, so I don't know how well prepared I'll be for the actual event.

I taught Lamaze many years ago and now my own daughter is pregnant. I was looking for something to help her and her husband experience the Lamaze Method and found it in your DVD. It was informative, serious, but very comfortable in the teaching level. All of her questions were answered, even the ones she was affraid to ask. I feel the "Fear of the unknown" is what makes a delivery easier for all. I would recommend this DVD to any expecting couple.

Very fast delivery on my purchase. I loved the dvd and would highly recommend it. I also would highly recommend this seller, couldnt have asked for a better purchase.

Even though this was for our second child we still wanted a comprehensive overview to remind ourselves. This DVD was perfect for what we wanted, but did focus more on first time labors without going into any details on second labors. The teacher is animated, but she tends to speak fast and I almost forgot everything from segment to segment.

Found it to have informative tips about labor. Even though this is my second child (daughter will be turning 5 in Dec.), I felt it was a great orientation about the labor and delivery process.

We really liked the dvd, but when it came to the actual delivery, wow!!! forgot about everything we learned. But we still recommend the dvd overall

It's actually funnier that most comedies that you see, and so informative. I would do this instead of a class. I really did learn more from this dvd than the lamaze class that I went to.

I purchased this DVD because I wanted my husband to be able to get a general idea of what to expect when it comes to labor and delivery. It served that purpose. I would not recomed making this your ONLY for of preparation for childbirth unless you are planning on getting an epidural right away. The DVD does cover some breathing, but not really much else in the way of comfort measures for labor.

This DVD is definitely dated - in fact I never received the updated 2005 which is what I was told I was bidding for, I got the 2004 - so I have big issues the Ebay seller, but I'm not sure how to rate him. Anyway, if you can get the updated version I think this will solve some of the issues (maybe) I had with the DVD. Overall, fairly informative, it is just that the teacher has pretty bad jokes and stories to tell that go on and on, dragging the whole thing out. Having said that, if you can look past this, I think I got quite a bit of information, although it is directed at people having singletons, whereas I am having twins...which is funny as the teacher has had twins herself and teaches twin classes. I also have her breastfeeding class on DVD which is much more succint, which defnitely has its benefits, but overall I would say the childbirth DVD has much more information in it.

Very informative and guaranteed to catch your attention for all 4 1/2 hours! Information provided is not overwhelming but yet very informative for a first time mom to be! Highly recommended!

my wife and i liked it it told her alot bout wat to expect and scared her at the same time with 2 working it hard to find time for lamaz and this hit the right spot

Informationally, the video is great, especially for someone like me who doesn't have a deisre to attend a class with complete strangers. The presenter definitely knows what she is talking about and I feel well-prepared now. I like that I can stop and re-play any sections I want to remind myself about. It could also be a good take-home supplement in addition to attending a class. The video seems dated. Everyone's style of hair and dress leaves some to be desired. Culturally, it is also lacking, as there are absolutely no people of color on the video.

My husband and I have crazy schedules, so taking a class at the hospital would have been next to impossible. Not to mention it would cost $100 for the two of us! This was much more convenient and cost effective. Also, we can rewatch sections that we want to know better. You don't get to do that at the hospital. The information is very straight-forward and presented well. The instructor does a great job of depicting what birth in a hospital will probably be like. The only downside is that there cannot be any specific information about what your particular hospital's policies and procedures will be. My husband and I were fortunate to be able to take a free tour of the maternity ward at our hospital, which explained most of their policies in detail. Bottom line - get this DVD, even if you still plan on taking a class. It is very worth it.

Well being born from a poor community, we don't have money to take the classes, (we do but i am not paying that much) :X

So we bought this dvd, even though the teacher is a little annoying the dvd is very informative they teach you 3 breathing techniques along with what you expect before during and after pregancy so i give it an A+

very helpful in teaching you about whats to come in pregnancy.
it was a bit funny at times to try to relieve tension on what she was explaining.
overall i was satisfied with my purchase and will recommend it to others.

loved it!!!! we did not take a lamaze class, this video covered any questions we had - highly recommend it!!!!

Movies were educational and helped alot. Even my husband enjoyed them and was WILLING to watch them!
