The Late, Great Planet Earth

The book The Late, Great Plant Earth by Hal Lindsey and Carole C. Carlson was published in 1970. The theme – the coming end of the world as we know it – was then and still is a popular, intriguing topic. In 1979, the movie version was released and was just as successful as the book itself.
Now, some three decades after the release of the movie, it is easy to see the instances of now-dated information – such as Russia being a world power when written and now awaiting its resurgence from the fractured pieces that exist today. Mentioning the formation of the European Union, today we now have the economic union of the Euro. Referring to the great oil crisis of the mid-70s, we now have the oil crisis of the late 2000s. And passing references to Iraq and we have thousands of valiant warriors who have paid the ultimate price in that country.
The movie brings into focus the infallibleness of Biblical prophecy along with the impending fulfillment of the end times as foretold in the Bible. If there was one thing I could revise on the DVD it would be to have a “follow up” in the special section to bring the viewer up to date with happening that have transpired since the end of the 70s. Still, as is, the movie is a must for those interested in “where’s it all going to end.”
