The Last Remnant (Xbox 360, 2008)

Very good game one of the best Square Enix pieces that doesn't have Final Fantasy in the title. They still refuse to incorporate an auto save feature, which virtually every game now has.

Put simply the game has plenty of replay value, I had to buy a stratagy guide just so i could discover the many many side quests. It is something I have played on and off for quite some time and I am still enjoying. Oh, and the story is great, not too corny and not too bland.

Now if your looking to buy this game its because you are skeptical of the reviews it has been given. To sum it all up you were right to question the press;this game deserves a rating well above the press average. IGN specially, slammed this TLR because of the technical flaws of the unreal engine, claiming it had horrible frame rate issues as well as texture delay even going as far as saying square-enix was just unfamiliar with the engine. As i recall Mass Effect had horrible texture pop-in issues as well as significant load times, so does Gears of war. How come they received a 9.5 while the Last remnant was given a miserable 5.8?
The visuals in this game are beautiful and the screenshots really do not do the game justice. The character design is amazing and the towns are very creative. The dialogue although cheesy and cliche at times is very well performed but really, its a JRPG, name one that doesn't come with a rediculous phrase or two.
The Cast is very memorable and will have you caring for each throughout the lengthy story.
The gameplay is where this game really shines. Although it has your regular turn-based RPG characteristics it manages to stand out by adding some very fresh ideas along with great design choices. You take control to several "unions" which are made up of up to 5 different "units", or single characters, which gives a real epic feel to every battle. A very cool detail of this game is that instead of having motionless characters as you select you course of action, they are battling out( without actually doing any damage) which really gives it a cinematic feel.
My advice is to ignore the reviews and, at the very least, rent this game. IT really deserves way more credit that its been given. Personally i cant even fathom how TLR got anything less than an 8. The technical issues do not even hinder the experience one bit, it is still a massive beautiful game that any TRUE RPG fan should check out.

I was looking for a game to hold me over until the next Final Fantasy series came out. The Last Remnant seemed like a good deal.... but the graphics look like plastic, the world is barren, the characters are un-sympathetic, the story is weak, and the battle system is under developed and very frustrating. In other words, TLR is not Final Fantasy. Disappointing that Square Enix developed it too. TLR has online rpg elements. It came off as a solid idea, but they just didn't back it up in gameplay.

I love the game except I notice that the graphics are...well kind of...just generally not as excpetionally good, but the gameplay really is exceptional. The textures do take a few seconds to load ive noticed, but it doesn't really effect the gameplay. If you can get past these minor graphical problems I would certainly suggest buying it.

great product even though it was used. This is not a game for the casual gamer. Before buying this game you should look up some guides for it online just to see what you are getting into. If you play the game the normal way you play most RPG's it will be very difficult but with a Low BR guide, you should do fine and enjoy this GREAT game.

I like the fact that the game is an RPG. The downside about it is that the graphics aren't up to your usual standard. Gameplay is fun- there seems to be a lot to do. Storyline is OK. One concern is the battle system- which is confusing at first, but once you understand it, the game is so much easier. The maps for some places are HUGE.

So its a pretty good game- not the best, but still fun and entertaining.

Item did not match item description. I received two of the same discs. It was supposed to be part one and two of a video-game, called The Last Remnant. I received two Disc 1s. Very upset, but I literally JUST found this out. Haven't asked for a refund yet.

Just another standard square enix game. I keep hoping they'll put out something great, but everything is just another final fantasy clone with minor tweaks. I know there are a lot of hard core square fans who'll play anything they put out, and if you are, you'll love this game. As for me, I grew tired of that formula somewhere between FF8 and 9. I figured the strategy elements would make this game fun, but with the exception of the big, big battles (which are cool), it plays just like any other RPG. Its basically just suikoden without the 108 stars.

Nice battle system. Great story. Good gameplay. Controls and Graphics are immpecable. One of the best RPG's on the xbox 360!! Squaresoft made it so you know it's good...

Read the other reviews on this page; they're great. Halo 3 is the s***. I recommend this game to people of all gaming types, it's just awesome. I'm more the RPG type, fighting or racing, but this game got me into all games of this type.

I bought the Last Remnant xbox 360 game for my future stepson for Christmas. He really has enjoyed it. After I won the bid, I received it in a timely manner.

I absolutely love Square Enix so I decided to buy this game.. For my boyfriend (Because he has the 360). I started playing and it was just like any Square Enix game... Which I loved. The box was kind of cracked, but whatever... The game was still as awesome as the seller said it would be.

The game has many remnants. Its name is the last one. Does the story pick up? I couldn't force myself to play long enough!
