The movie develops characters, gives us a glimpse of what our ancestors character might have been. There are no huge special effects but the beauty and harshness of the land is apparent and well worth your time to view

The movie, "Last of the Mohicans" is one of our family favorites. We had originally purchased a VHS copy of the movie upon it's initial release. However, that copy had seen a lot of play and the video was beginning to show a lack of quality. One day, I was searching the DVD database of movies for auction on eBay and discovered several used copies of the movie. Bidding was a fun, easy way to obtain a quality copy of a great movie for a low, low, price. The transaction was safe, quick, and the seller was a pleasure to deal with. Since then, I have obtained several other movies that I have enjoyed on VHS, but now have upgraded to DVD. I have also purchased several quality, used box sets of some of may favorite television series. Shopping on eBay has been a safe, great way to get these items at an unreal price compared to buying them at a retail store. I would recommend eBay to anyone looking for a particular item at a low, low, cost. Robert in St Louis.

Well done! The story itself is a classic. The movie production did an excellent job of portraying the story. The backdrop in the book was upper state New York. The backdrop of the movie was the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. They are very similar.

I was especially pleased with the sound of flitlock longrifles and muskets. As a builder and shooter of longrifles, I appreciate the extra effort that went into the sound recording.

This movie was breath-taking when I saw it over two decades ago. It is just as breathtaking for the rerun!

If you never read Last of the Mohicans or any of the other Leatherstocking Tales series by James Fenimore Cooper then this movie may, possibly, be entertaining. However, if you have read them, this movie is a travesty and a smear of the original book. The only principal portion of the original story left unchanged is the title. Everything else has been materially altered to suit the needs of a shallow attempt at popularizing this great American classic. Plot is chopped up and reassembled, main characters are deleted, added or terminated, previously non-existent plot lines are added, ridiculous romantic angles are contrived. The movie bears little or no resemblance to the original story. I can only attribute the previous positive reviews of this cinematic mess to a total ignorance of the original story. The fact that many reviewers write about their ebay purchase experience rather than the movie itself seems to support this conjecture. All-in-all a movie best overlooked.

Daniel Day Lewis plays this part wonderfully. With the historical background, love story and beautiful scenery the movie is one of my favorites. It is definitely one you would want to screen when young viewers are around, it is very graffic when it shows the battle/fight scenes.

Just one of those outstanding classic movies that we needed to upgrade from VHS to DVD. Daniel Day Lewis is excellent in this James Fennimore Cooper novel turned into a full-length movie. None stop action and keeps you setting on the edge of the chair.

dvds are one of those items you worry about buying, but this dvd looked brand new you would think it was.i was so pleased with my pursace..

I bought this film because it was filmed in NC mountains at Lake Lure 20 miles from where I live. It also is an excellent film and realistic in my opinion. Of course, the Mohicans were a Northern tribe and did not dwell in NC. The scenery in the film is real, not man-created, and is truely beautiful. Tom Broom

Bought it for my girlfiend.. she loved it. I like any movie with some action and history. Something we both could watch and enjoy. Not many movies we are on same page with.

This movie has magnificent scenery and the music is always in my head. I absolutely love this movie and the actors are fantastic.

This is a wonderful MOVIE. The movie is extremely well-acted by the entire cast. Daniel Day Lewis is superb as Hawkeye. And Madeleine Stowe is excellent as well. It is a very entertaining film. I bought the movie because I've had the VHS for years but needed this one on DVD. This movie is one of my favorites-one of my top 15 movies of time. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you are in for a treat...

We purchased this DVD as a Father's Day gift. We have and enjoy the movie, and just feel that he will too knowing the type of books he likes to read.

If you enjoy movies such as The Last of the Dogmen, Dances With Wolves, Robin Hood (K. Costner), Rob Roy and such, I believe you will enjoy this movie as well.

My wife aand I love this movie, it's a love story for her, and intense drama for me. The soundtrack is wonderful. if you've never seen this movie it's a must buy of early america and our dealings with batling the British along with our indian aliies. This movie can be watched time and again!

I bought this director's cut version for my husband for his birthday. We both love how the additional footage, not included in the original theatrical release version really complete the picture and meaning for each scene.
So many other director's cuts that we've both seen, simply confirm why the theatrical release was edited the way it was in the first place. This a great DVD. I'd recommend it without hesitation.
