Lasagna Gardening by Patricia Lanza (1999, Hardcover)

I moved to an area where three to four inches under the ground there is nothing but rock. I wanted a garden and did not know how it would be possible to have one until I heard about something called lasagna gardening. I bought the book Lasagna Gardening by Patricia Lanza and just LOVE the book. It shows you how to make a garden or flower beds just by layering various ingredients such as newspapers, compost, leaves, grass clippings, wood ashes, etc. and the list goes on and on. You can then plant in this medium. I know it sounds weird but it really works. Both my vegetable and flower gardens are just beautiful. Also I find that I have less weeds and the ones I do have pull out so easily because the soil is so loose. Actually this method works great even if you have good soil because you don't have to dig up the ground every year or till the soil because everything is above ground. I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to make gardening a lot less work.

I just got the book and started reading it. I can't wait to get started on my garden for next year using the lasagna method. I think this book is great. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in gardening to read it.

This is my second book, My daughter has kept the first one. I love it. It is akin to the Ruth Stout no work Garden book of the 70's just a little newer. It works great.. so easy.

I love the book. I bought this one because I had misplaced my original copy not bought on eBay. Of couse after receiving this one I found my original book. I am now making a Christmas present of this eBay purchase. This book is very informative and gives you great ideas on how to plant a lasagna garden and many other suggestions for going green!! I have really gotten a lot of information out of this book, so giving it as a Christmas present makes me feel good.

Had reviewed the book given my daughter in law and saw much information in the book that I can use. I also saw the good results of her first attempt to use the methods described in the book. I used the plan in the book to improve on the compost bin I had made already out of cinderblocks. My only regret is the cover is soft cover and the corners roll up. I have shared the book with my sister and sister in law.

Checked it out at the Library, and loved it. For our Garden loving household, we wanted to purchase it for our own personal garden information library. Found it online for 1/3 of the cost and the rest is history. thanks

I'm a novice gardener and this gives a pretty basic guide to simplify small gardening. It shows how to prep soil for the long term and if you don't have a lot of time - options for that. There are steps for vegetable vs flower gardens. It uses products that the average person can get hold of - not some obscure goo that you need to search five counties for. I had heard that this was a good system, I have not tried it yet, but have read through some of the material and will give it a go. Weeding to me is tedious, not therapudic, so, hopefully this system will help reduce that chore.

"Lasagna Gardening" is a book very familiar to me, I have used the concepts outlined within many times. I purchased a second copy to loan out to friends, as mine is never here when I need it. The book is easy to read, the projects are rewarding and not difficult to achieve. One of my most enjoyable was a large flower bed my grandsons helped me build with instruction from "Lasagna Gardening". I have since moved, and when my neighbors saw my process for building new beds, they used the book to begin using that method. This is a book I refer to frequently.

i have allways looked for a way to garden without the fuss and trouble, so when i heard about this book i just had to have it. now that i have it i will say that i have never spent my money wiser...

This is a fun, fast, simple way to garden. It is hard to change from traditional gardening so we have refered back to this book many times.
