Buyers should always be aware...

This item I won stated that the DVDs were for Region 1, US and Canada. When I received it, it was shipped from China! All the writing on the cover was translated, and I can only assume the menu screen would have been the same. I can't read or understand any Chinese. The seller said nothing of the DVD being IMPORTED until the winning bid confirmation email. That's a BIG piece of information I would have liked to know before bidding! The item was returnable, but only if unopened. In the email, it was stated differently: "If it cannot be played in your DVD player, money back guaranteed." Well that implies opening it, doesn't it? Needless to say, I didn't open it and returned it after several emails with the seller.
I am not saying that all buyers should question all items sold on ebay, I just want to make sure that this doesn't happen to others. Sellers should be very specific. If the item is IMPORTED, that's a BIG piece of information that should not be withheld from the item description.
This particular seller is no longer using the same ebay name, I can only assume because of the large amount of very unsatisfied buyers, so it would do no good to reveal the name. This particular problem happened to several people, but their feedback was negative only after I won the item.
Moral of the story: Always try to be an informed bidder/buyer. Sellers please describe the items in detail. I know ebay tells sellers to do that anyway, but there's no good reason to withhold information from the buyers. It makes them disgruntled and wary.
