Bargain bin fun for Veggie Fans

This is a simple but fun kids game that provides a nice interactive Veggie Tales experience. My girlfriend loves kids games, since she's still new to the video game world and gets frustrated easily when the action moves too fast and involves all of the controller buttons. Throughout the course of the story, new features of Larry Boy's super suit are added one at a time, so there's plenty of opportunity to master each new power before adding new complexities.
The upside: The characters are funny, the writing is hilarious, and the positive messages don't get in the way of the flow of the story or the game play. Are the morals taught in a hokey way, or is it done effectively? Are you thrilled to see an attempt made to teach right and wrong, or does your jaw drop in disbelief as their portrayal of good and evil? It's a source of endless discussion for the adults, not to be answered definitively by this reviewer. The game features lots of silly songs to unlock, side missions, cut scenes - fans of the Tales will be amused, at least for a while. It seems ironic that one of the characters needs to be saved from the temptation of playing video games too much - but there's actually a feature where you can set a reminder once you've played the game for a certain length of time! Maybe I should use that feature - and maybe it should come with ALL video games!
The downside: play can get repetitive, and there are a limited number of phrases that get used over and over again during the action sequences. The graphics are clearly a few years behind the times - it looks like the game was made for the PSP, and then ported over to the PS2. It's not all that uncommon to get stuck on some parts, due to the poor lighting / graphics that make it unclear where you need to jump / fly next, or because the game requires rather exact timing and multiple attempts to reach the key spot.
Summary: It's by no means a great game (too basic, too repetitive), but Larry Boy cracks me up enough that I'm willing to overlook the weaknesses and get some fun out it. Be prepared to jump in and save your kids when they get stuck in one place, or they might give up on it forever. For people who are passionate about Veggie Tales only.

i brought this game because i just happened to come across it while bidding on something else from a seller, while waiting for bidding to come to a end on a item ( and not wanting to leaving incase i got outbid ) i strolled through what else the seller had to offer the description seemed to be very cute, so i bid,and won , and gave it to my little 4 year old girl she was tickled by it, it was very easy for her to control and understand the graphics are very colorfull and bold i think it perfect for a 4 year old AAAAAA++++++for this game

My nephews were hooked on gruesome monster type games...playing way to much and intent on the killing and blowing up aspects...Larry Boy and the Bad Apple saved the day! Age appropriate (4 & 6)) they love to play! In fact, were purchased Veggietales videos and books and they can't wait to get more. The game has excellent animation, a easy to follow plot (yet not too simplistic) and A+ graphics and voices overs. The parental controls offer several options and 2 can play. Outstanding game - highly recommended and offers strong values and positive choices.

) My boys love this game. I bought it because my youngest is autistic and LOVES Veggie Tales. My oldest is helping teach him how to play the game which will help with social interaction and hand/eye coordination. It's a wholesome, fun game made by a great company. Very much recommended!

Our whole family, young and old, absolutely love VeggieTales. We have almost every program on VHS and DVD - so we had to have the game for Nintendo DS and Playstation System. So far the kids have reached a couple spots they can't figure out very well, but I haven't ever sat down and played it myself. The graphics/animation are decent and the voices are the same as the programs - so it's like making your own VeggieTale!

LarryBoy and the Bad Apple (PS2)is a game that plays similar to games like Spyro, Sly Cooper and Crash Bandicoot, but it also has a great message. The premise is that the Bad Apple is temptation and LarryBoy must overcome his own temptation of chocolate to help others avoid their temption. We purchased this game for our children and find that we want to play it, too. We love the good, wholesome aspects of this game and the timer that lets you set how long your children (or yourself) can play. You battle the Bad Apple with a combination of jumping, slushy spray, energy and the all powerful suction cups. This can be construed as violence, but only in it's silliest form and definitly not harmful if repeated in real life. There are also mini games that we haven't even broached, because we have been enjoying the main game so much.
If you are looking for a challenging, complex game, you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a relaxing, good time with no cursing, no nudity and minimal violence, then this game might just be for you. A veggie fan must have.

Great Basic Game for Children or adultsLike so many others, I bought this because my son loves VeggieTales. He is autistic and it is a bit difficult for him to do some things on the game, and can be frustrating to small children sometimes... but hey, don't we all get frustrated with these games sometimes?
All in all, my son loves the game but isn't too shy to admit he needs help or coaching sometimes.

I bought this game for my daughters 5th birthday. She really enjoys the game, although some of the moves are a little complex for her to do. There are many rooms as well, and if you are not paying attention you may go into them a few times. But I suppose, gone are the days of Pit Fall and Super Mario Brothers where the part of the game you haven’t accomplished yet; is to your right. This game would be a great game for someone a little older than 5….. My wife, who is not a gamer, loves it. Well there is my two cents!

Christmas Gift for my GrandsonMy 4 year old grandson is a Vegetales junkie. When my son married his mom, a PlayStation 2 was introduced to their family. The only game my son plays is Madden Football, so my grandson tired to play that. Obviously it was too hard, so he felt left out in sharing "Dad" time. This game gives them a great game they can play together and also have that important bonding time together.

I have three kids (ages 9, 6 and my 38 -year-old husband) who absolutely love this game! It is fun and challenging on many different levels while continuing to teach the basic biblical principal of temptation and wanting more than you have. There are so many great object lessons and it is such a fun tool that the kids don't even know they're learning until after we discuss "You know what we have learned applies to your life today..." The only disappointment would be that it is only a single player when Larry Boy fights the evil Bad Apple and all her temptations across Bumblyburg, but there are many mini-games and other goodies that use 2 player. Definitely worth the $!
