Larry Graham - Funk Bass Attack (DVD, 2006)

A good showcase of Larry Graham's talent and style played with two former band members. It's not a bass guitar teaching tool however, but rather a dissection of funk by the grandfather of the slap/thump bass playing style (his is unconventional with left hand thumb playing the E string over the top of the neck similar to Louis Johnson). It's also a portrayal of Larry's outgoing personality and love of the music. The DVD is dated...taped in 1997.

True enough Larry Graham and his guys are great artists, that is a given. There are many many great ARTIST. Few have great teaching skills. This not an educational video, if you think it is don`t buy it. If you just wanna see some guys show off and spend time talking about some good old days buy it. Its a knock around cut up kind of video. What ever level you are on I think that Mr. Graham just likes to share very little about his tech skills. If you are looking for someone to break slap down to you go on utube or try one of these other bass players teaching videos some of them are good some not, search around. All and all I am very very happy LG came along with the truth of Life yet this is just for knocking around. Maybe Mr.LG and the band should make a more serious video, where they are not playing with so many toys.

The first thing you will notice about the video is the sound quality. It is bad. You can barely hear what Larry is doing.
