How The Hills Really Began

Laguna Beach was MTV's precursor to the current international phenomenon reality show The Hills. Inspired by teen melodrama The OC, Laguna Beach gives a glimpse into the real life experiences of Orange County's most privileged teens. Laguna Beach is where it all began for Lauren "LC" Conrad, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, Jason Wahler, Kristin Cavelleri, Stephen Colletti, Jessica Smith, and the rest of the beautiful, rich, and fabulous exports of this small seaside community. Season Two of the series centers around and is narrated by Kristin as she completes her senior year of high school.
Kristin has a penchant for creating drama, and this year she is helped in that department by her friend Jessica and the love triangle between Jessica, Jason Wahler (who by the end of the season moved on to Lauren Conrad, a romance that crossed over into The Hills), and chanteuse Alex.
Kristin is no slouch herself in the romance department, and she hops from boy to boy with the zeal of a cheerleader on prom night. This is none too pleasing to on-and-off boyfriend Stephen, who returns throughout the season during his visits home from college. Kristin seemed to have all but lost interest in Stephen when her nemesis from Season 1, Lauren "LC" Conrad decides to leave college and return home to Laguna Beach. With Lauren back in Kristin's radar, Kristin is just as determined as ever to keep Stephen all to herself.
Watch all the drama for yourself. Even if you are not a fan of reality television, this show will have you hooked. Unlike most low budget reality shows, the cinematography of Laguna Beach is as glossy and expensive as the beachside properties inhabited by the subjects of the show. If nothing else, it is worth watching just for the breathtaking views of the California coast and the awe-inspiring home of Lauren Conrad's wealthy family complete with pool and jacuzzi that seem to melt into the Pacific sunset.
