DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

THE LADY & SONS, TOO! is one of Paula Deen's earliest cookbooks. A diamond's value of delicious recipes wrapped up in a primitive spiral-bound cover. Who cares? I am thrilled to have a copy of ANYTHING the woman has ever written! Two more to go and I believe I have them all! (The very first one she published herself, The Lady and Her Friends) is going for over $1000 each if one ever shows up on ebay these days)
I grabbed this cookbook the other evening from my countertop for the Grouper Fromage. Sounds a little frightening? Nah, this topping could go on any fish and it is out-of-this-world. You could serve it to visiting diplomats and dignitaries as well as laundromates and secretaries! GEEZ, I should have been a writer!
The pleasure was all mine when Paula Deen came close to Cincinnati to a small town called Lebanon, Ohio, for a book signing and graced my vision with a meeting and a book signing. There I stood before her in a BIG BIRD COSTUME looking like a fool with my arms outstretched. Actually, yellow scrubs and a white lab coat. Her beaux, Captain Michael-gets-to-eat-like-a-king was there as well and he seemed like a sweetheart, southern genteelman. After reading, "It Ain't All About the Cookin'," I'm so happy Paula found herself a good man. Good heavens, is he lucky to find her or what? She is so funny, talented, personable, caring and loving mom, and one of the hardest working women around!!! By the way, she is BEAUTIFUL in person...yes she is pretty on television, but she is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL in person. Michael, you little harbor hellion, how'd you net that?
Well anyhoo, grab yourself a copy and consider yourself fortunate to have your kitchen blessed with the Angel of the South and a bit of her magic food wand.
Cheers,
Pam Zahora
