I picked this book because I absolutely LOVE cooking. I was looking for some new ideas or any traditional "derty souf" basics I've been missing. I long for the recipes of my relatives from Missippi who have passed on (RIP).
However, I consider this more of a Southern "Inspired" Cookbook....
I think Patti puts a little too much "Diva" into some of the Southern Favorites. That is NOT what I was seeking when I picked this book. Even knowing the TRUE Diva she IS, this is not at all what I expected. Foolish me. LOL
Some examples of what I mean:
Her Salmon Croquette recipe calls for Salmon "fillet" (oh MY)
Old Fashion Chicken & DumplinGs require a "Stewing Hen" (whuuuut?)
The baked Macaroni & Cheese calls for Muenster Cheese (hmmmm?)
The Carrot Cake recipe calls for cans of carrot BABYFOOD but NO shredded carrots (????)
Potatoe Salad uses Red Potatoes (wow?)
But by ALL means, if you want to add a classy touch to your Southern Inspired dinners this book is for you. (I plan to re-sell mine)
*IF U know any "durty souf" style cookbooks, please message me here :-)
